Re: 4/1 Do Lou amps 293

Yes if we can just stay out of those pinks ~O) I also have a ?? not sure where I should post it how long will his lantus vial last does anyone really know I have been told it should work? It says to discard after 28 days but I know we are able to get more use out of it then this but I was unsure of this information and my vet is as well. Do Lou's vial is dated from walgreens 3/7 I have read the sticky's on Lantus storage above guess its a just keep a watch on my numbers sort of thing

Re: 4/1 Do Lou amps 293

hey that number is in the pretty yellows this morning, that means you might be headed some place good today!

We pretty much only use mochas solostar pens for about 28-30 days. She cannot seem to get any good numbers after that amount of time. Other cats can go for months on the same pen.

Yes my vet gave me a script for the vial I am not familiar with the pens but that may be the way to go I would presume you would not waste as much lantus with them when you throw out old am I correct??

Re: 4/1 Do Lou amps 293 +3 311

I would say like 28-36 days is how long a vial can last..BUT if I see Moonie's numbers going up, or calculate the number of days I'm using a pen or vial, then I know to change it...A new insulin for us, always lowers the numbers somewhat..
3/7 is 28 days since you opened it...Wait a couple of days--A new dose takes 3 days to get into cat's system, that is 6 cycles-OK? And let's see if the numbers start going down, then you'll know the insulin is still working :-D
Hope this is a great day for you!! HUGS~!

right lisa, the solostar pens waste a lot less then what a vial wastes when you throw that away. One of mochas pens seems to last us about 28 days with "decent" numbers (decent for mocha anyways) and because of the dose she was on, the pen was almost out of insulin when it came time to throw it away.

yes its almost 28 days on sunday and I am going to wait and see first hoping to see more constant yellow with the dose increase I know he can go up sometimes at first when he is changed, but I do want to change him over to the pen I can see that will save us some money in the long run hope Moonie is having a restful day after the vet trip cat_pet_icon
