Morning Dwight,

Looks like Boots is doing great on this tiny dose! :-D :-D I hope you tell your vet how good he is doing, so maybe, he will change his way of thinking~
Hope you have a great day

Thanks Carla, Jane, and Devon

Well, I'm sure she will be surprised at the success. I am supposed to go back very soon here for some more kidney tests. I'm hoping she can handle that part. She would like to see if his BUN and creatinine levels have changed. She didn't really give me any advice on bringing these numbers down she just wanted to see him in 8 weeks. I had to learn a little about this on my own and still don't feel like I know much about kidney troubles or high phosphorous. The only thing I've changed is feeding the Friskies SD Turk & gibs exclusively because the Phos. is supposed to be around 189 mg./100 cal. and .82 on a DM% basis. There just aren't many choices that have low P and have low carbs.

Take care everyone.

changing punkin's diet to the friskie's SD t & g made an improvement in punkin's labs. i hope it does for Boots too! I printed out the list from the http://www.catinfo.org site, then went to 3 stores and circled the ones i found that were under 210 or so. I stuck with the Friskies mostly, but there were several that i found locally that had both low carbs and low phosphorus.

he's still looking very nice in his blue/green numbers!

I hope it does for him also. His BUN was 44 and his creatinine was 2.4. Although not excessive, hopefully the wet diet with the lower P will bring them down a little.

And..... Julie, using my public school arithmetic knowledge, 14 doses-7 doses= 7 doses..... ;-)

Halfway!

Thanks again.

 seems like your public school success is serving you well now! ;-)

i can't remember how much punkin's BUN and creatinine changed, but it was enough to put him from out of normal range back into normal range. i felt like the diet change alone was successful.

That gives me more reassurance. I guess I just need to get the appointment done and see how he's doing.
Thanks.

FWIW, my gf teaches kindergarten at an elementary school a few miles from here so I'm around this stuff all of the time. But my math is better than hers....
