I stopped and got syringes today, unfortunately my Walmart was out of 31G, so had to get 30G.......is this going to hurt him? He's already noticing the difference in the lancets. Will I even be able to use these? I haven't opened them, in hopes of taking them back if I have to get some somewhere else. This store just never seems to have what I need. :-x

Any insight would be helpful and thank you ahead of time!

Re: 30G VS 31G ??

The 30s are okay to use. The difference in diameter isn't much. I used 29g on Bob and he never reacted like they hurt at all.

Oh thank you! I was so worried. But then I'm worried about everything in regards to Lucian.

AW geez! I just looked, the ones that come with the pen are 32G, hope he doesn't notice.

I use a 30g lancet. It's fine.

I do use a 31g syringe.

FWIW, ordering syringes on-line is much easier. They never run out!!

30 gauge is only teeny bit thicker than 31 gauge. IMO a cat can't tell the difference between the two. Gauge makes no difference in how the insulin gets into the body. I've used 29 gauge insulin syringes and my cat wasn't bothered.

I plan to order online, but needed them now.
I edited my last comment, the ones with the pen are 32G, hope that's not a difference he will notice.

Re: 30G VS 31G ??

Just a quick note....I know there is alot to learn here. But on a housekeeping issue, we ask that you please post all your questions in your condo for the day. The reason is because we have so many members and if everyone posted all their different questions in different condos, it would be very difficult to get through them all.

So if you do one condo per day, we'd appreciate it. All you have to do to let us know you have a question is to edit the subject line. So you could have it look like this as an example:
1/18 Lucian AMPS 242 +4 210 30G vs 31G?

Also...anytime you need help of any kind that is not an emergency, you can click on the "?" button above the subject line by going back to your first post of the day, clicking on "edit", clicking the "?" button, and then click "submit". Then click on "post reply" and put your question there.
Once your question is answered, we ask that you take the "?" off so we are free to help others. :-D

Thank you so much!

You're still good going from 32g to 30g. It's still a teeny hole. You want to see something scary, ask your vet to show you an 18g sub-q fluids needle the next time you visit. We call those "harpoons" and for a good reason!

Carl
