Where do you buy bison? I hope that’s the answer and she stops vomiting. :):D
Whole Foods. I wanted to see how she liked the raw before buying frozen raw meat from Hare Today which is so expensive.

The answer to the vomiting was the Primal duck, which doesn’t make a lot of sense as duck is supposed to be hypoallergenic.

Interesting. One of my 4 year olds who never vomits had that reaction to the Primal duck and only the duck. All other flavors are fine. My other cat with skin allergies does fine on Primal Venison thank goodness.

Strange, right? Good to know about the venison because I have some Primal freeze dried of it (I think they are discontinuing the freeze dried foods so it was on sale at the local pet shop for $10/bag) that I was going to try on Ruby to see how she liked it. It's a bit high in phosphorus so I will be giving it to her sparingly.

They are discontinuing all freeze dried? Are you sure? The venison is really hard. It doesn’t dissolve in water. I keep forgetting to get my mini food processor back from my sister. That would be bad if discontinued because the other food I use, Small Batch, doesn’t make FD cat, only dog.

I'm not entirely sure but it's out of stock on Chewy and it looks like they're trying to move the inventory at the local shop. I hope I'm wrong!!!

If it's really hard will soaking it in the fridge for a few hours help?

I just checked their website and put in a ticket asking. I will try soaking longer. I bought it in case I ran out of frozen, forgot to take out food for the next day, or my fridge died.

I’m going to take Ruby’s dose up to .50 tonight. If she doesn’t like it, we can come right down but it’s been a while since we’ve been on this dose and her numbers are climbing. She also seems to be feeling better, eating on her own, so I feel ok nudging her.

Enjoying a sunny springlike day. Sometimes I really envy Ruby.

Aww she looks very content.
I'm also thinking I should have taken Buddy up in bigger steps. I suspect that increasing from a drop to 0.1 to 0.25 just made his body compensate for the slightly higher dose. I didn't see his numbers budge at all. I think these small changes are great for decreasing when the numbers are good for a week, but I think that when increasing the body just adjusts to the small change the same as on the way down. Maybe? I'm just going off of Buddy's numbers so it's just a theory. But I thought if I was going to start back up on the insulin I'm going to go straight to 0.25 and then to 0.5 if needed.

Ruby did much better on .25 this time around than when she was on it in January. I really hesitated for a long time to increase because she kept dipping her toe beans into the 50s while having AM preshots in the 120s. As you so brilliantly illustrated, the difference between .1 and .25 is drops, but the difference between .25 and .50 is more dramatic, so we might not be on it for very long. We shall see.

Hope you're well and you had a nice birthday! :bighug:

I did thank you! Had some bubbly for the first time in a while. I didn't really feel comfortable having any alcohol with Buddy on insulin. You never know when you suddenly have to rush to an ER. So it was a nice little birthday breather.
Hope yours was nice too. It's so weird celebrating birthdays with all the pain going on in the world right now with Covid. It feels a bit indulgent. But we do have to take the time to mark these milestones.

Yes, 0.25 to 0.5 is doubling the dose. So I understand your fears. I really hope it's the little push she needs.

Hi Katherine, I'm so glad Ruby did well on the bison and no puking.
Good luck with the increase. Now I'm looking at the pic of her and I just want to
cuddle the heck out of her. She's too adorable ♥:bighug::bighug::bighug:
