Yesterday's Condo

This morning, it was Gizmo's turn in the cubes. He stationed himself inside and Gabby was whacking him! (Or I think that's what was going on -- I didn't have my contact lenses in yet.) Breakfast was complete with a bowl swap -- just to make sure no one's food was "best." Now, the kitties are just relaxing. It's a foggy, glum day that's going to be rain-filled.

Re: 3/9 Gabby AMPS~269

Hi Sienne, You can keep the rain right there (but I fear it's heading our way). Your kitties are in demonstrative mood this morning! Have a good one.

Ella & Rusty

Re: 3/9 Gabby AMPS~269

Cube fighting, Gabby wants her territory back.

We're to get freezing rain tonight, joys of joys. Hope you manage to stay dry today

Re: 3/9 Gabby AMPS~269

Good morning guys .. nice sunny start to the day for gabby ... I have a feeling gabby is going to be in those cubes before to long .. it is also a rainy dreary day here .. perfect for cat napping! Have a great day guys!

Re: 3/9 Gabby AMPS~269, +2~184

Gabby was whacking him!

I'm really sorry, but hearing this like this for some reason makes me love Gabby even more. She makes me laugh with that personality of hers.

Re: 3/9 Gabby AMPS~269, +2~184, +4~115

Sounds like a great day there.. gloom & all ;-)
Kittes are cute, playful & checking each other's food too.
Nice +4 for Gabby, I hope the rest of the day brings healthy, healing #s too.

Re: 3/9 Gabby PMPS~87 & Tribute to George (GA x2yrs)

You have all heard tales of Gizmo and Gabby. George was Gabby's older "brother." Today is the 2 year anniversary of when he crossed the Bridge. I posted this memorial on the Yuku board in the Reflecting Pond as a tribute to this special boy.

We've all met people who hate cats. George was a kitty who transformed these people. He was a mutant -- a male calico. He also had none of the calico stereotype of being fractious. He was outgoing, silly, and thought he was a dog -- he'd greet you at the door and roll over to have his belly scratched. He was an incredibly easy-going boy accepting Gabby into his home with one hiss and only the one because the interloper kitten insisted on sleeping on his spot on my bed. He would steal food and loved the most unusual things -- tomato sauce (preferably with pasta), apples, melon of all varieties, and diet soda especially if he could drink out of your glass. (Non cat lover friends loved that!!) He was also known to get his head stuck in yogurt and ice cream containers -- sorbet containers too, because I suspect he thought it was ice cream.

George was very fastidious. Once, he wandered in to my walk in closet. I was busy getting ready for work and since I leave doors open, I didn't think anything of it. Apparently, he was playing and leaned against the door, locking himself in the closet. When I got home that evening, no George. I went upstairs and noticed the door to the closet was shut. Upon opening the door, George bolted out. I wondered what damage he could have done being locked in the closet. Like a cat, he probably slept most of the day. However, nature called. George found my oldest pair of shoes and peed in one of them. Not a drop was on the floor -- just in the shoe. I still giggle over that!!

He crossed the Bridge at the ripe old age of 20 and, despite the last year of his life dealing with intestinal cancer, was kitten-like to the end.

Aside from an incredible personality, he was (IMHO) beautiful. He had striking blue/green eyes that people who met him never failed to comment on. A friend of mine who is as close to being a professional photographer gave me a gift last year -- a beautiful framed picture of George. It hangs in a place where I can see it every day. Thinking of him brings tears and a smile.

Georgie, you are loved and you are missed.

Re: 3/9 Gabby PMPS~87 & Tribute to George (GA x2yrs)

What a lovely post about George. I think you are right that he could convert non-cat people into George-cat lovers. What a great kitty! Awesome personality plus beautiful eyes and a cute pink nose too.

Here's to you George, for bringing joy to your mama-bean and all those who were fortunate to have met you.

What a wonderful tribute to George and he is very handsome!!! o:-)

Wow 20 years!!! You were lucky to have each other all these years… I don’t think I ever met a 20 years old cat…

Thank you for sharing your memories of George…

What Beautiful kitties George and Gabby are. Is Gabby a Calico as well. Miss Witty was also a Calico. She had a sweet personality, your's have a lot more white than Miss Witty. She had a little on her chin and paws, otherwise all golds and reds and browns.

Have a night night.

Cheryl -

George was a calico -- the color was in big slotches. Gabby is a tortoiseshell (tortie) -- her coat is more mottled. Both George and Gabby have white bellies and paws. The gene for the calico pattern is sex-linked female. Hence, George was a mutant and a rare mutant, at that!

A truly beautiful tribute for a gorgeous boy. About to head to bed, and reading this just brings a big smile to my face.

Gabby is looking great tonight... hope you're having a good evening.

Annie has the prettiest white markings in with her torti-ness..
  i've come a long way from referring to them as the Adoptocats, haven't I?

trust a tortie to teach us the way...

George was such a handsome guy! He looks sooooo soft. I loved your tribute, especially the part about peeing in a shoe when forced to make that "where?!" decision. What a cutie. Hugs to you on his anniversary. Thanks for sharing! Gabby seems to be celebrating him in her own way.

What a wonderful tribute to a very beautiful and special kitty. George was definitely a one in a billion kitty. You both were so lucky to have found each other. I hope tonight as you sleep you dream of your boy and you share a special visit together.

Sienne, What a beautiful rememberance of George, who is GA but the story still warmed my heart.
I'm always worried that I have locked a kitty in a closet too, as I did it once to Monie when she was little--She also got stuck behind my giant armoire & i pulled the thing over(it's about 6ft tall & I am 5'1") to get to Moonie-
So I know how that feels.
Thanks for sharing that beautiful kitty's life with us--Gorgeous boy indeed--
Also--prayers for your sister's recovery..I must have missed that--sorry.
Great pmps Gabby, who is doing so so well. Ni Ni!

Well, now I'm totally confused. I thought Witty was a Calico, but maybe she was a Tortie....My sister said she was a Calico...so I guess I just stick with that...even though she may be a Torti ohmygod_smile .

That is such a beautiful written portrait - to go with the photo, in which George is, indeed, so beautiful.
You captured his spirit, and clearly, it was something special.

How do you cope with the sadness except to feel so lucky to have had him in your life, and so long? He must have loved you very much, Sienne.
