Hi Everyone,
Here we are almost three full weeks of no insulin and doing great!
Basil was 75 at PMBG yesterday, a grat number for him. (No, we are not testing every day!
But yesterday at AM+8, Husband Bean fed Basil Merrick Grammy' Pot Pie, which is 8% carbs, a little higher than his usual, so we wanted to test.
And this morning was Basil's vet appointment. He is at a very good weight now. About 6 ounces over where he was when he was diagnosed. He does need a dental and I have to call to schedule that today. I asked a bunch of questions and he will not be taking antibiotics before. If he needs them afterward, he will get them. He will have fluids before, during and after the procedure. I asked for no metacam and the vet said he does use it for some things and believes it is a matter of proper dosing, but that he is fine using a substitute should Basil need it. He thought Basil looked great and was very pleased that he was OTJ. I was a little disappointed that he didn't ask more about the process, but he is a very quiet guy. One of the vets in the office said she got chills hearing that Basil was in remission.
Basil continues to act just great and to be a purry kitty. His sister Rosie weighed in at a pound down, which was excellent news.
The only bad news is on the new little doggie front. We LOVE her but she is going to have to go back to Rescue. She needs to be trained to be able to be confined, even in a few large rooms and that means we can't leave without devising some interim methods for leaving her (right now, our other dog is in our big bedroom and bathroom with the radio on when we go out) while she is adjusting and that will be too much stress for the other animals and for us! So we are all sad. All except Basil and Rosie, that is.
Miss you all! It isn't the same without your own condo! NOT that I'm complaining, you know. Not at all.
