Hello Everyone.
today has just been an edgy day.

This morning when i got up late I decided to check bg.

five hours before I tested... she ate friskies poultry platter 8% for breakfast
AMBG 129 then gave her cowboy cookout
+2 125
+5 110 then gave her fancy feast appetizer mixed with cowboy cookout
+7 111


not terrible... but she had been greener as of late... ( see her ss)
or at least I thought so. Maybe I have only been catching the nice greens . nailbite_smile

My gut told me to check today. She's been grumpy the last week... biting/clawing my hand in the morning when we are laying in bed if I pet her too much which is
normal for her but keeps me suspicious of what's going on.
She's sitting in the meatloaf position about 25% of the time.
Her appetite has been less...she's hungry... but doesn't like the lower carb ( better brands). She just wants friskies turkey and liver pate or friskies tuna with egg or friskies
poultry platter. The one thing that perks her up is fancy feast appetizers.... she really likes that.

She has a bump under her chin ... she had several but most have gone/popped....
I am considering calling the vet tomorrow to see if we can pop in, get her chin looked at and have her felt up .... ( :o :smile: )
I know her right front foot is hurting a little because she's limping again. I try to keep her from jumping down, I think she's aggravating whatever is hurting in her foot.

purrs when it's food time or being petted....
pee and poop is normal.... she normally does each once a day at the very least.... yesterday did have two pees....
preens at night...
but play has been sparse... she has scolded the dogs a couple of times recently which was pretty funny....
they have bark collars and we are trying to get them to stop barking so much and shadow jumped down the other day when they started barking and chased them ... practically
waving her little paw like an old lady chasing young whippersnappers... :lol:


Anyone without fangs?
have you noticed the throat skin feeling more wrinkly/sponge-y?
 
Hoping Shadow feels better. Ruben gave me a 142 the other day and i almost threw up...but next day 111. ohmygod_smile
Ruben had bumps on his chin a few yrs ago and the vet told me it was cat acne... :lol: said I could try to pop them, which I tried but they cleared up on their own.
Hoping its something simple like that. sending good vines to shadow and some peaceful stress free vines to you
 
Shadow, not expecting to see you here. Chin acne can get quite infected which could raise BG and put her on edge. When I worked at a shelter we'd get it regularly. Can't remember what we put on it, maybe hibitane? Worth talking to the vet about. The most common cause is plastic dishes, but some cats are just more prone to it.

For the limping, try to get a video of it to show to the vet. My civie Theo slammed into one of my kitchen appliances playing (heard it not saw it) and he was limping hard for a while. But when I went to the vet all he did was slink really low and the vet couldn't see the limp.
 
Not such a wonderful report for dear, sweet Shadow. Hopefully whatever is bugging her foort and/or chin is causing the numbers to be elevated? She's a tough little cat and so are you! I'm sure you'll get through it together. Keep us posted!
 
I'd get her checked out. Sounds like she might be in some pain.

Gracie had a chin infection a few months ago and needed a/bs and topical clindamycin....sometimes it can be worse than it looks and they can't tell until they shave the chin.

Sitting in the meatloaf position will really bug me too. Sometimes my vet said I brought my cats in too early before anything canbe detected. It's the caretaker's third sense that something is brewing.
Dont worry, Rhiannon. Sometimes they do have ups & down like us. Is Shadow due for a general checkup or something?
