Good Sunday Morning, Everyone,

We're back in higher numbers this morning, but I suspect that there is some food behind the 149. Rusty had a good night, good testing, good breakfast and shot, good 2nd sitting of breakfast, played briefly (not in a playing mood today yet) and is watching the heavy rain now changing to sleet (and soon to snow). Yep, we are looking forward to a "massive storm" that is pushing into our area: up to a foot of new, heavy snow on top of the 12 hours of rain. The temp. has dropped 10 degrees in an hour. It is supposed to go down to -10 tonight (it was +40 when we got up this morning). This will be a good day to stay inside! I have a bike set up on a stationary trainer in the cellar, so that's what I'll do for exercise today. Edward is baking bread. Rusty is chillaxin.

We hope that everyone will have a good day and that Whiskers, Tori, Rocket, and all other kitties not feeling well will begin to feel better today. Healing vines, thoughts, and prayers.

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149

Good morning, Ella and Rusty! Hey Rusty....you and Spot are running a close race today. He was 145. It's nicer than that 179 you put out the other day, but come on buddy, let's get a little lower numbers today! I hope you start feeling frisky and playful soon, your mama would appreciate it!

Ugh, Ella, your weather sounds nasty, too. I was laying in bed this morning and I hear this strange noise...sounded like either someone spilled a glass of water or something was dripping. Took me a while to realize that it was rain hitting my window, then it turned to the hard sleet. I was hoping that it wasn't going to turn into ice cuz I had to go to work. It wasn't. As soon as I got to work, tho, the snow started. I was just informed that we are expecting a nice blizzard today, but it wasn't supposed to start until afternoon. Hopefully it will slow down. Good idea to just stay home and stay warm!

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149

Morning Ella, what is up with our kitties? Maggie is running high, too, but I also leave food for her overnight. Your weather sounds terrible! Yes, a good day to stay inside. Homemade bread sounds so good!

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149

Good morning, guys! Happy Sunday!

Looking pretty good, Rusty, but I know you can go lower than that. Be a good kitty and play with your bean some. Red Ears is calling you!

Ella, your house is going to smell so good when Edward's bread is baking! Mmmmmmm! My DH wishes I would bake bread more often. He's right, I probably should.

It went from rainy swamp to frozen tundra here overnight so I can only imagine what's in store for you later on today. Keep warm and be careful!

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149

Morning Ella,

Glad to hear that Rusty is feeling good. Good day to stay inside by the sounds of it. I don't know how far from me you are but it is going to be in the 50's here but rainy. Hope you don't get to much more snow. I have a spin bike downstairs too. Comes in handy doesn't it.

Have a good day spite your storm.

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149

Morning guys! Yes, this amps certainly is better than yesterdays - good job Rusty! Greens today, yes?

Bummer on the weather: the rain and the sleet! More snow later huh? Sounds like a good day to stay indoors. I am so ready for spring. Nice though for the bike set up - I have one too that I use for days when it is just not one to be outside.

Have a good one! Stay warm, enjoy that bread.

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149

Rusty needs his numbers a little higher to ward off that horrible weather! I can't believe you are staying inside today Ella....not many days bring you to that decision!! Hope you have a wonderful one....keep warm! :YMHUG:

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149, +5.5 119

Much better numbers Rusty! those early morning snacks are screwing with your beans heads you know!

You just made me realize that John hasn't made bread in 2 weeks! I'll know he's all better when he starts kneading dough again! :-D

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149, +5.5 119, +9.5 137

It looks like we're having a flatish blue day. But we just had a magnificent play after Rusty's +9 snack. Big Bug and Rusty played non-stop for 1/2 hour, very vigorously.
Ann, Edward now bakes almost exclusively the "no-knead" bread of the Sullivan St. Bakery in NYC (lots of recipes on the internet; Google "no knead bread"). It is superb--great crust, sort of a French country loaf. You start it 24 hours before you want to bake it; use instant yeast (you can get this in the King Arthur Flour catalog online), heat for 1/2 hour at 450 the dutch oven that you will put the dough into, and bake it at 450 degrees. It never fails and is perfect every time (and very little mess to clean up). Edward used to knead and punch but now only does so when he makes his other breads.

Rusty and Edward just finished another game, this one with Red Ears. I guess the doldrums of the day are over! What about your doldrums, Binks?

We have miserable weather up here too. Freezing rain and wet snow.

Your house smelling like fresh bread sounds soooo nice. We just bought a breadmaker. I haven't used it yet. DH has all the ingredients. I would love real made from scratch home made bread though - heaven.

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149, +5.5 119, +9.5 137

Hmmmm, I might actually try that recipe! John does get his yeast from King Arthur and last time we ordered their "dough whisk," it would be perfect for such a sticky dough. I guess I don't get to steal it for mixing glazes in the ceramic studio.

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149, +5.5 119, +9.5 137, PMPS 153

It is good. We ate some of Edward's loaf this evening. It also keeps well and makes good sandwiches. He puts a little of his sourdough starter in for extra flavor and uses 1 cup of whole wheat flour along with 2 cups of bread flour.

Rusty has decided to go back up again. This has been a weird day of numbers for him. I wonder if I gave a fur shot this morning.

Hope Rusty comes back to his nice numbers for you. It's nice your bread was good. Hope your weather improves. SPRING is just around the corner.

Re: 3/6 Rusty AMPS 149, +5.5 119, +9.5 137, PMPS 153

Good evening, guys!! Hoping Rusty's numbers come down soon and the snow isn't too bad during this coming storm! The bread sounds delightful, though... a perfect antidote to icky weather. I've read that recipe several times, and even have the perfect dutch oven for the job, but bread has always seemed so intimidating to me. I've never been able to get starters to hold, and I dunno why I'm so afraid to try. May have to get over myself and give it a go this week! Do you guys ever use white whole wheat flour in it?

Hope you guys have a great finish to your weekend!
