Well the blue didn't last long yesterday ....we hit 288 by +5 and 302 by PM shot time. I just don't know what this cat is doing with 9.5 units of insulin twice a day. His diet is better, he still gets some Elsey's kibble and Ziwi peak in the morning, but the rest is pate that's between 3-6% carbs. According to the Dr Pierson pdf that range should translate as the as the same. He's so picky I choose the pate flavors based on variety to keep him entertained. If I can find some time this weekend, maybe I'll go through and label them all and try the 3% with the kibble mix in the AM and save the 5&6% for the PM when there is no kibble mix. Other than that, I don't know what else to do, other than try to have him retested for IGF-1 and tested for Cushing's, even though he doesn't really have any Cushing's symptoms, except flaky dandruff which the vet thought was consistent with the diabetes. I have to get some other things in order before scheduling any tests for him, and pay down some of the CC from Abby's dental experience, so he still has time to prove me wrong, and start earning reductions on his own. Challenge issued, Mr. Jack-the-Cat!!

It’s so frustrating to figure out so many things, Christine. You’re doing. Great job managing it all. Big hugs to you and your kitties :bighug::cat::bighug:

Hi Christine I can imagine how frustried you are.
Try what you said that
If you can find some time this weekend, maybe I'll go through and label them all and try the 3% with the kibble mix in the AM and save the 5&6% for the PM when there is no kibble mix.
You are doing all you can do. Good luck with trying this :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

Hi Christine,
I can totally understand your frustration!
You are doing the very best!
I guess that is what FD is all about.
It's been incredibly humbling to me that no matter how hard I try, Mikan's numbers are what they are
But what you are doing IS making a huge difference in the QOL of Jack. You are making his life much more happy and enjoyable (don't you wish cats can express that better than what they do!)
Sending you :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: Hang in there
