Hey, Folks!

I'm on the run in between temp assignments tonight...
and this is totally OT- but I can't think of anyone whose opinions I would value more.

I just had a preliminary callback on a position as Practice Manager for Banfield Veterinary.
They are the veterinary practices associated with PetSmart.

Thing is...I know nothing about them other than what I've read online...
so am seeking input from the folks we trust most.

Any opinions, experiences...anything AT ALL to help me decide on my response.

I think you have a pretty good take on my values regarding our animal partners' care...
and while being a Practice Manager would be a dream job for me-
I have no desire to work with a group that is solely profit driven or has any
"ethical" issues- (ethical to me means that patient care and education comes first.)

Thanks in advance for thoughts and input, guys!

and love and healing to all from the Idaho Goofballs

LOVE the pic!

FWIW: My only experience w/ Banfield in our PetSmart is as follows - and it may be just grooming and NOT vet care:

There was a groomer in training who needed 100 grooms under her belt to get certified - and she was at about 90. Apparently she'd done a lot of little pocket pooches, but not too many large dogs w/ long hair. So they called our local Humane Society! (make Fido look good so he can get adopted - right?!) Anyways, my friend w/ the HS called to see if my Dom would like to volunteer his services. So I dropped one of her fosters and my boy Dom off in the morning. She picked them up in the afternoon and they looked quite spiffy! The chow that went w/ Dom looked beautiful and was adopted the following week! And Dom looked, smelled and felt VERY handsome!

I thought this was a very generous and great partnering opportunity w/ the rescue pups, as sometimes they don't look so appealing. Likewise, I know some photographers who offer their services as well!

I've never know the groomers to be under the Banfield umbrella, the Banfields I've heard of have always been the vet clinic/hospital. I have heard some horror stories, a walmart of vet practices. But I think it varies depending on the quality of vets the particular clinic has. If the vets are good quality, caring vets, then the clinic will be a good place. If the vets are just in it to see how many animals they can run through in a day, the clinic will not be so good.

I think meeting the staff and seeing the facility would give you a good feel for their ethics.

I had my cats on the Banfield wellness plan and used them for years. They are a great company. The customer service was great. My vet and the staff were all very nice and the hours worked well for my schedule. I highly recommend them. I think it would be a good opportunity for you! Good luck!

I have used the vets at Banfield. I found the quality of vet care to be quite good. You have to watch them though. They will have you coming in for unneeded rechecks forever. You will need to tell them that you will bring the cat back in if his condition has not improved.
