Do you think you can ditch the dry and switch to TR?
The odd treat is fine as long as it's low carb.I thought about it. She is a finicky eater and I don't think she eats much dry anyway except for some Young Again treats, which she adores. Two of the other three cats eat dry foods so I don't think I can totally eliminate them from our cat dining menu. Does TR have to be 100% off dry and totally wet menu?
While the TR protocol was written with a human meter in mind (I think there weren't pet meter at the time that the protocol was published), there are folk who use pet meters. Most of us don't use them because the strips are so expensive. Pet meters read higher than human meters. The difference isn't very much in lower numbers, but in higher numbers it can be as much as a couple of hundred points.I am also using AT2 - When I heard that they would stop producing the strips in September, I panicked and bought a whole bunch of strips. I'll be using AT for a while to go through the stock although I bought a Freestyle Lite as well. It came yesterday but the box did not have any stripsI ordered some. Can TR be done with AT2? The difference between BG numbers from AT and human glucometer confused me so I was going to try using both once the human strips come.
So silly of me to have panicked and hoarded AT strips! But since I paid a fortune for them, I want to use them all!
We do not recommend mixing and matching meters and strips since the results can be unreliable. Do you not have a human meter to use with the human strips? It's the strips that are the biggest ongoing cost and not the meterAs for the monitor, I'll try the human glucometer once the strips come. I'll use it with the AT2 to get the idea what the discrepancy is for Mikan and proceed from there.
