Had our first Spring thunderstorm last night and she tends to run high during storms so hopefully she will come back down today.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

Was wondering why she's up so high, good thing you know your cat.

I haven't been doing it long enough to know Lucian's behavior to outside influence.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

After you have been dancing with Lucian as long as I have with Autumn you just start seeing the trends, well that and she and I both seems to run the same way during storms as they set off my fibro and her BGs...lol

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

No weather issues here, but Lucian woke me up throwing up white foam. Not much, just a little a couple times. Seems to be ok now. Then Shadow did the scarf -n- barf a couple times. She goes right back to the bowl and starts over. ohmygod_smile She's more apt to do that when I put water in it, she drinks it too fast. No hairballs from either of them, but I think I'll give them some 'squeeze fish' anyway. Can't hurt.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

Hairball meds in a tube, fish flavored vasoline is what it is.

Don't know what caused Lucian, but figured out Shadow, she's constipated and trying to get miralax in her, but she won't take it right now. Because of the constipation, she's not gonna eat for a few hrs. Once I thought about it, I knew, cause she had left me a small present on the rug. She does that, she'll go where ever she can when she's having trouble. She'll stay under my bed most of the day and come out later, this has been going on for years, but I hoped the change to wet food would help that. I have her some miralax mixed with water and a tiny amount of food for taste, hopefully will get it into her later. I used about half a tsp, is that sufficient or should I go to a full tsp since she's 'stopped up'?

Gawd! What a conversation! Only us cat people!

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

1/2 tsp is fine since you don't want new paint when it kicks in... ohmygod_smile If she isn't eating enough to get it in her, the other trick is to mix it up, put it in an oral syringe and give it to her that way.. ;-)

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

If she doesn't eat in a few hours, I'll throw it in the blender and give it to her, or I'll TRY, you know she's still feral at heart and not at all cooperative. :o Even after 16 yrs. ohmygod_smile

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

That's worth a shot, if I can find enough clothes pins. I have a couple that I use for potato chip bags and stuff. :-D

Of course, if you do anything to her, even pick her up, she screams like you're killing her! :o I'm sure the neighbors thought I was killing my cat this morning, when I picked her up to put her in the LB, she was 'hunching' near the door. She has always been that way, from day 1! Vets are always surprised by it and think she is injured or something, but she's fine, just doesn't want to be messed with in any way, so she squalls like a banshee!

Or god forbid, you touch her while she's eating! She squalls and chews at the same time and it's the funniest sound you ever heard! She won't stop eating long enough to yell, so she does both at once.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

lol I had a little guy like that many years ago, except he would yell about anything and everything so much so that he was finally christened Banshee...lol

He would also growl and purr at the same time. One of the oddest sound I ever heard a cat make.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

I should have named her Banshee, but she got Shadow, cause she followed every move I made, the first few weeks I had her. She knew I had food and that's all it took.

Since then, she's been called Meow Meow most of her life, because she talks so much. :-D She's one that will carry on a conversation with you, as long as you talk to her.

Funny how they get nick names, Lucian is usually 'Kitty Bunch or Kitty Bunches' like Honey Bunch for a kitty or Momma Lucian, short for Momma's Lucian. Patches is just Patches, sometimes PatchesPuss or Momma Patches, same shortened versian as Lucian. :-D We are such strange people! Or maybe it's just me

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

Yeah I'm pretty sure about half of mine don't even remember what their actual names are...lol In fact I know one doesn't since I finally gave up calling him by his given name of Bandit and he is now just Bert. It went from Bandit to B, Be Brr, Be-bert and now just Bert.

Maxwell, is MaxMax, Maxerdoodle, Big Max and Mom's little Peanut (as in circus peanuts) Full given name Lord Maxwell Fenix (pronounced phoenix).
Then there is Lady Jane Grey...who is Janie, Jane-Jane, Janie bear (because she likes cuddling in bed like a teddy bear) and dust bunny.
My Patches, is peapod, patchypoo, and pudgely (thus the reason he is on a diet..lol) & "GET OUT OF THE CUPBOARDS"
Autumn is Pumpkin or pumpkin pie or just pretty girl
Amon Ra is Ra-Ra, Ra-rum, Rummy, RumtumTugger, and "GET OFF THE COUNTER!!!" lol
Those are probably the worst of the bunch here for nicknames except for the drooler who is really named King Tut (since his best buddy growing up was Amon Ra) but he is known as Dinger, Dinger dog, dogbert, big red, big shooter and other names I can't repeat on a public board...lol

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

Sneakers goes by Squeakers (b/c she has stopped meowing and now just squeaks- don't know if that is acro effecting her vocal cords or not)

She has been called other things, most notably Bald-butt when she had a 1/2 dollar sized chunk taken out just above her tail and the vet shaved her so he could dress it up (she was NOT amused)

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

Oh no it isn't just you, even my vets have various names from my critters that have nothing to do with the names on the files...lol

Although my all time favorite is from Dr. Brad with King which is "Get Dr Rick to examine him!!!" Dr Brad is awesome with small dogs and cats, but King terrifies him. And King knows it so he will back Dr Brad up across the room everytime...lol Yet Dr. Rick is a big dog man, and King becomes putty in his hands the same with Dr. Tami so anymore when I have to take King for something I just ask to be seen by either Dr. Rick or Dr. Tami.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

I miss the days of having one vet in an office, I knew what to expect and knew who did what. I think I'll try to find one in a smaller town around here. There are several at the vet hospital where Lucian was and I really don't care for that. Like with my DR, he is the only one there and I know I'll see HIM.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

That is the one thing I love about mine...there are 3 full time vets and now this young woman that is interning and after she is done with school will be joining the office for at least 4 years as part of a deal she made with them for their help paying for her schooling. (She was a tech there until she decided she wanted to continue on to be a vet). So I know exactly who I like for which animals and they are always good about making sure I see who I need to. Even on the few times that it has been an emergency as with Onyx even their on call service is great about finding out who you have been seeing and making sure that is who they call in for an emergency.

In the 7 years that they have been my vets I think there has only been twice that I have gotten a random vet there, and that was because I had no preference since it was something minor like a wellness check or shots etc.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282

You have to understand this area, it's all about money here.
I had only been to that vet once a few years back with my dog, because it was closest at the time. After that I used Banfield, which I'll never step foot in again. And then back to the first vet when Lucian got sick, so I have nothing to go on. The days of the 1 vet office are probably long gone except in small towns, but I prefer that and will try to find one I like. If I don't like them after the first visit, I go somewhere else, just like human DR. I have to connect with them. You're lucky you have the vets you do, I haven't found that here. Not yet. I sure miss my vet in TN.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282, +6 221, pmps-153

Aha I think I figured out where her higher numbers are coming from...and she isn't going to like it one little bit...its her boiled chicken bites. I noticed that I grabbed a different brand of frozen chicken breasts than what I normally get, so I got to reading the label. These are injected with chicken broth and favor inhancers...I read carbs there. Plus since she stopped getting them this afternoon her numbers are consistantly falling again...so no more chicken bites for Mz. Autumn mom will just have to go get a couple cans of sardines to make amends.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282, +6 221, pmps-153

I've yet to find chicken that's not injected with something. Certainly can't afford organic. :o

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282, +6 221, pmps-153

Well I could come pretty close to organic if I was willing to bump off a few of the ones that get loose from the fair grounds every year and wind up in my back yard.....lol and then there are the loose f*ing roosters that chase me when I walk the dog in the summer maybe no one would miss a couple of those, except for the fact that I usually have a 97lb dog trying to hide behind me when we encounter them..lol I keep telling him they taste just like chicken and he likes chicken...rolfmao.

Re: 3/5 Autumn amps-282, +6 221, pmps-153

 Big bad dog huh?

Sounds like my female golden. When we lived in FL there was a pond not far from my house and a big fat white duck came up on my patio. The sliding glass door was open, the screen door closed. The dog very slowly, like she was stalking prey, crept over to the screen......the duck let out a squawk and that dog fell all over herself trying to get away from that door! Funniest thing I ever saw!
