It's starting to look like .5 u is working well for Jose at this point. I need to buy some more testing strips today. I only have a few left. I did not realize how fast they went!

Most cats are difficult to regulate UNTIL the dental is done. Push hard to get it done. With the dose you are giving, its possible that could get him off insulin.

Do NOT try to brush his teeth if they are painful; you will fight a losing battle and your cat will avoid you for causing pain.

It may not be car sickness, it may be stress and fear. See if your vet might give you something for him to help manage the stress of transport.

I will definitely be puhing to get his teeth done ASAP. I haven't tried brushing his teeth I wanted to wait until he had them cleaned first.

The stress and fear rather than actual car sickness makes sense since he doesn't seem to have any issues if he's being pet and comforted the whole time. Out of curiosity what would they be able to give him? I've always been nervous about giving him more meds with him already being on insulin.

It might be easier and safer (re more medications) to have someone drive you or have someone come along to pet and comfort Jose on the way to the vet. I know some people use Felliway but it doesn't work for every cat.

You and Jose are doing great!

When Jose and I moved back in with my parents he was peeing outside the litter boxes. He was checked for a UTI and was fine. After researching I heard of feliway and used the collars for that but it didn't seem to work. The only thing that worked was keeping him separated with his own litter box. Now that I think back though it seems to have worked for his travel anxiety. I might get one of the car ones and see how that works next car ride.
