Evening numbers! She is running lower than normal so I finally got to test with Relion handgeld against Libre. She was at 93-98 on Libre then 118 on Relion. But then Libre dropped to 89 a few minutes later after. I gave her a small extra snack just in case. She's hanging at 81 on Libre now for last 15 minutes. No idea how this will go tonight. Nerve wracking. Should I grab the higher carb snacks or wait this out?? Also what numbers should I be going by? Average the two? My Libre 3 has an alarm for under 70. But I doubt I'll sleep much. I'm worried. @Staci & Ivy how do you decide which numbers to trust between Libre and handheld?

Morning post:
Hi all, keeping a close eye as she has not been this low this early in the day in about a week, but then kind of hung out in the 100s which was lovely on 2/28 and 2/29.

Pharmacy opens NOW as we speak so I will be making that call. I really hope we can get it today. I just realized they have to compound it still... the vet tried to call it in Friday but they were already closed. So fingers crossed.

Have a good day all. ~

I hope you got the meds today, Teya. How is Tweety feeling? :bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci, unfortunately they opened today and just got the prescription so it takes 24-48 more hours to compound it into a flavored liquid. At least it'll smell like tuna so she will like it i hope.

Tweety is doing OK. Still playful at times even. So I'm really glad it seems I've caught it early enough.

Hope Ivy is surfing well! Thank you for checking in and asking. :bighug::cat:

Wow, didn't realize it would take so long to compound a med. I only had it done a couple times quite a few years ago, and don't really remember. Hope it's ready in the 24 hour frame!

Thank you, I do too. I called and they said they would try for 24 hours.

I would go by the meter and not the Libre. We've seen enough instances of the Libre reading much lower at normal numbers as well as giving wonky dives. Whether you need to use higher carbs depends on the numbers and where you are in the cycle. Later in the cycle you don't need carbs to keep numbers up. Earlier in the cycle, you might need higher carbs to slow sharp drops. Generally we recommend reaching for HC only below 50. However, ECID and how sensitive your kitty is to carbs also matters.

OK, thank you. She's now 5 hours past PMPS so not a fast drop, but definitely not normal numbers for her at night. She stared hitting 90s at 4 hours.

I feel like I should just go ahead and add a good 10-15 to what the Libre says. As for food, I'll just hang tight. Even though she's been in the 80s she's probably really in her 90s which is OK.

This is so strange to me as I've held this dose for a while now. Yet her numbers keep changing course.

For a cycle like tonight you don't need higher carbs. Some of her usual food every hour would help her surf greens nicely. You want her to spend time in normal numbers to give the pancreas a chance to heal. Carbs can reduce duration and cause numbers to go up quickly - especially later in the cycle.

That's FD for you - a good dose can "go stale" and a dose that was not enough can become too much! That's why we say not to focus on the dose but on the numbers. :-)

Isee.. so much to learn. She's still very low only 134 now. Supposed to give shot in 20 minutes. I'm very anxious to give normal amount. I'll post new thread.
