I think he is coming down, but I have a question:
In the morning, he gets tested then he gets his injection. At 6pm, he gets tested then injected, but his normal dinnertime is 7pm.
Is this bad? should I be giving him food right away at night (like half of his dinner at 6 then the rest at his normal time)?

I know with the older insulins it was advisable that they have food in their tummies before shooting so that it could kind of cushion the immediate drop from the harsher insulins. However, I don't think that really applies with the Ls since onset isn't going to be for 2-3 hours after injection to begin with. I think the only time I would really worry about it is if Cedric was acting off and you weren't sure he was going to eat when it came time to feed him.

So to answer the question, I honestly don't think it matters as long as his appetite is good. But if you want to error on the side of caution, maybe feed him 1/2 at shot time and 1/2 again at his regular dinner time. Just to make sure that he always has food on his tummy before the insulin kicks in.

What are his normal meal and snack times?
Is he getting 2 meals... at 6am and 7pm?

I think a half and half would be okay. With Sneakers I feed her about 1- 1.5 oz at shot time and then will come back an hour or two later and feed her another ounce. Unless she polishes off her plate the first round- then I know she is still hungry. But since she usually leaves about 1/2 the first time and then will eat the rest in about 30 minutes and expect her "second brekkies/dinner" sometime shortly after that.

I don't leave too much out for her at one time. Now that she is not wolfing down three ounces at a time she will NOT eat 2 ounces of the same food in a row  . I have 4 varieties that I have frozen and I thaw out 2 cubes for her of each during the day.

No- she's not spoiled at all

he typically eats 4 small meals a day:
6am breakfast
between 10-11 am snack
between 3 & 4 pm snack
dinner at 7pm

the two snacks are in a timed feeder and are smaller "doses" of food. I used to have 2 feeders going, one for each cat, until I found out that Cedric was eating all the food I put out. Dallas is on the same schedule, but apparently will only eat when he's hungry. I think he eats more when I am home for the day (which isn't often, but I was working from home for about 3 months).
