3/31 Snuggles AMPS-97/79+2.5/88@4.25/PMPS-111/85+2

We are doing good. Snugs still has the black stools but other than that she is doing great! How are you and all your fur babies doing? :bighug:
They’re keeping me busy for sure! If it’s not my heart kitty with a spreadsheet to track all her meds and supplements, it’s my boy with cancer on his nose that I am trying to get seen for radiation treatment - and soonest I can get in is mid-May. And then there are the kittens….

Mid May? That’s ridiculous. Does a specialty vets office give the radiation? Thankfully it’s only on his nose…which needs treated asap. It’s really sad everyone having to wait for important and life saving treatment. When my mom had surgery in 2021 it was delayed due to the hospital not having enough nurses for the OR. :(

That’s pretty bad for the U.S. I am accustomed to hearing from my friends in Australia or Canada talking about waiting a long time for needed surgery, but not in the U.S. although you are probably not talking about waiting times of 18 months or more for your mom.

Well a colonoscopy wait time was 4 months..A friend of mine who is a doctor said in NY biopsies of all types were considered nonemergent during the pandemic so they were put on hold. A patient of his was unable to get a biopsy and she was later diagnosed with breast cancer. Sad situations for so many people. My sister’s ex was from Canada and universal healthcare sounds good but there’s long waits even for X-rays and testing.

Where will the radiation be given? Specialty vets? I’m sure there’s probably not a lot of options for getting him an appointment elsewhere. @Suzanne & Darcy
Well we have an appointment at University of Georgia veterinary hospital. They are super busy. There is a chance that the Blue Pearl specialty hospital will get the treatment first, but we will see. They’ve received approval, but transportation of a radiological device is complicated. It’s a specific type of radiation called Strontium 90 and it is applied to specific areas using a hand-held device. The radiation goes to a very specific area and does not affect surrounding tissue or go too deep.
