Today is day 3 at 3.5u.
Tomorrow we go to 3.75.

We spent last night from about 8pm-4am at the Emergency vet. They were swamped! Purrl developed a cold and had some labored breathing. I wasn't having much success with home remedies and her odd heart murmur made me nervous. However, she got oxygen while we waited. (Could have done that at home too, and nebulized, but didn't think of it. :( Next time I'll know better.)

So she's got antibiotics and an antihistamine. Her appetite is very un-Purrl-like, and I believe it's because of her stuffy nose. I syringe fed before her shot tonight. I'm betting as soon as this right-before-dinner dose of antihistamine kicks in, she'll be more ready for a snack.

Anyway, it's been fun. Not a lot of testing today as I had been up 24 hours. No point going to bed at 4 am when I had to get up at 6 to feed cats and do Purrl.

I do have a question though. Does diabetes interfere with the immune system? Weaken it? Make her more susceptible to colds? I don't think she's ever had one before and it's been literally years since any of our clowder past or present had a cold or URI.

Hope everyone had a calmer night than we did!

Oh no I’m so very so sorry to hear of your past day with Purrl. I’m sending you big big hugs of comfort. I know how hard what you are doing is.
It sounds like you needed to have her seen and I’m praying she’s going much better today.
That’s all so scary.
Please give Purrl gentle hugs and pets from me and Ivy.
Maybe post a question so you get some answers (wish I had answers for you, or tag some members who may have answers)
Let’s the @Wendy&Neko @Bron and Sheba (GA) who may have some ideas :cat:
And try to get some rest. You must be totally wiped out :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I have heard of diabetic cats being immunocompromised. Though that normally means something like more UTI's.

I hope Mini Purrl feels better soon.

Thank you, ladies.

She's had a rough day with the stuffed head breathing. I hope tomorrow is better. I did 2 rounds with a nebulizer, and she ate a little on her own after the second one. Elevated dishes sure do help! She's resting now, and I'm going to have to sleep soon. I did get about a 3 hour nap after cat breakfast. She's got open access to everything she needs in a closed room.

I'm sorry you had a tough night last night. Hopefully Purrl will feel better soon. You're taking such wonderful care of her.
Sending lots of PAWsitive vibes your way.
Hopefully you had a calm day today and are able to get some rest tonight.
