Re: 3/31 Lucian AMPS 281

Yay for no fur shot. :-D Seems like they come along just when you've got a nice rhythm going to throw everything out of whack.

Re: 3/31 Lucian AMPS 281

YAY!!! Lucian on the sundeck with Alska!!! Good since Cassanova left him holding all the cards...

Re: 3/31 Lucian AMPS 281 +5/207

mmmhmmm... looks like Lucian is keeping you on your toes as usual but pretty dang nice #'s overall.

Re: 3/31 Lucian AMPS 281 +5/207 +7/222

Might be a short cycle, possible bounce. He ate 30 mins ago, will test again in an hour and see if he needs his shot at +8. He does occasionally, but rarely now, thank goodness. Not like the first few weeks.

Re: 3/31 Lucian AMPS 281 +5/207 +7/222

At least it's flat yellow, and not a flat tutu. :-D Those flat cycles are a bit unnerving at times, in case they happen to dip down towards the end of the cycle.

Re: 3/31 Lucian AMPS 281 +5/207 +7/222 PMPS@+8/257

Seems if he gives me a couple longer or lower cycles, the bounce will need a shorter one I have to control. Hence the +8 shot. Chances are, the next 2 will be longer, then he should move longer/lower and then another 8 hr. It's crazy, but I guess it makes sense. He spent so long, so high, he's taking time to adjust to lower numbers. My goal is just to keep him under renal threshold, even if I have to shoot at +8. Thankfully, it's not that often anymore as he is adjusting.

I think this bounce was from the fast decent last night, although he didn't go too low, only to 77. But it was fast the first few hrs.

I see Lucian is still keeping you on your toes! Great job working with his variations on a theme.

BTW, I saw your comment that you didn't know anything about ProZinc. As far as we can tell, it works just like PZi, so consider yourself an expert on both. (the way you have dealt with dosing Lucian certainly makes you qualified.)

Re: 3/31 Lucian PMPS@+8/257 +4.5/86

No hon, I'm flying by the seat of my pants this time. :o

Ok Lucian, where ya going?

Re: 3/31 Lucian PMPS@+8/257 +4.5/86

As fast as he dropped last night, he only got to 77. I was surprised, but this is a bit too soon for those numbers.

Re: 3/31 Lucian PMPS@+8/257 +4.5/86

Maybe he liked the greens last night and is in a hurry to get there again? :-D

Meal brought him up a bit, will check again in an hour. Good Lord, the strips I go through, thank goodness they aren't expensive.

He ate again, along with a 1/4 inch piece of Frito. He wanted it and at 70, I figured it wouldn't hurt him. He stuck his head in my bowl trying to get it, so I gave him a tiny piece. He's never done that, no clue why he thought he would like it, but he ate it. Wouldn't eat a 2nd tiny piece so I guess he didn't like it anyway. My pets have never eaten people food, but I figured what the hell?

Omg Deb. This is too cute. I can just envision it.

I've been scratching my head looking at Lucian's SS....

Since he seems to have somewhat similar patterns to Eddie at times, here's what I've seen with Eddie --

He seems to get longer duration if onset is later. This most often happens when he has a higher pre-shot, and for whatever reason, it takes longer for the insulin to pull him down, and then it just keeps working. The higher doses sometimes seem to have longer duration, too. I'm wondering if you can slow the drop early in the cycle so the insulin can't push him down as fast, if that might help stretch out the cycles. I've been experimenting with splitting Eddie's larger pre-shot meals into two portions. He gets roughly a total of 3 oz. (mixed with about 1/2 parts water) - 1/2 just before shot time, and the second half at about +2. The idea is so it doesn't spike him too much at pre-shot, and then to have onset coincide approximately with some more food. I can't really say whether this works or not, but that's kind of the rationale behind it. I know Lucian likes to eat frequently. :-D Do you think that might possibly work?

Or maybe you could experiment with slightly higher doses...the 2 looks pretty good on him overall...and try to maybe front load the food so as to avoid an early drop? That's the difficulty is that you might be aiming for longer duration, but you might get a steep drop instead. I don't know what you can do about the flat bounce cycles. I think you're handling them perfectly. :-D In fact, watching how you've handled Lucian gave me the confidence to shoot earlier when Eddie's sitting high and flat. Looks like Lucian does pretty much what Eddie does - short flat high cycle or two following a nice cycle or two. It seems like for Lucian, the early fast drops might trigger bounces moreso than green numbers?

Thanks Jen, As far as his eating, he eats every 2-3 hrs, there's no fighting him, he insists. He doesn't eat much, less than 1/4 can of Friskee's, but he insists on eating often. I'd have to leave to prevent it.

SO! Power just came back on after being out over 2 hrs. Should have seen me testing by candle light! :o I'm gonna test again and try to get some sleep before,....whatever happens.
