We are back home!!! They took X-Rays to confirm she had no fluid in her airways. They strongly recommended an internal medicine and cardiologist consult (on the weekend none of those doctors were available at the ER). These were already on my radar, just trying to save enough money for the appointments :(

The ER vet's theory was that she was reacting to hating the process of being pilled/the taste of the medication (though I do use gel caps). The elevated breathing I see is likely related her to heart condition, but we won't know more until I get those consults. For now, she is okay and we are actually finishing Clavamox today (no more pilling for either of us hopefully FOREVER) so hopefully she will be fine until our follow up at the regular vet this Friday.

Hi Z , thanks for the update, Don't you wish we can hit the big lottery so money won't be a problem when we have to see different specialists and more tests . You're never alone , we all care about your beautiful girl :bighug::bighug::bighug:♥

Happy to hear you're home and done with the meds. I've given pills to a lot of dogs but the only time I've even been bit is when I had to pill my son's kitty. It is so difficult!
I hope he feels all better and you can get the answers you need.
 
Hi Z, thank you for the update. Sooo glad you and sweet Falafel are home. We’ve been worried about you. I’ll bet she’s thrilled to be home. Love that picture of her sleeping happily.
