Dont know how to delete second thread but included it here
Oggie's evening read is 102. I did not dose him again. Should I consider reducing yet?
Also, I read that I am supposed to feed him between 6 and 8 ounces of food a day. He still seems hungry. Is it ok to give more? He is underweight at 6 lbs.

Hello.
I haven't visited yet. Welcome to LL.
I can't help with dose..
but as a new FD cat, his body hasn't switched gears yet , even with his wonderful numbers.
I'd give him a little more food myself. HIs body knows he needs more calories.

Monica, we only start one thread a day each so that way all comments and info stay in one place. All you need to do is change the subject line on your post to include any new data or questions you may have. We have a lot of users here and a lot of daily threads, so it's just easier to keep all of your stuff in one place.

Can you post in your daytime condo and let's let this one just float to the bottom. I'll go there. You can open that original condo for today and update that subject line for this evening.

Hi there
A profile helps the folks here better help you.
It's invaluable when it comes to getting answers quickly.
Based on the limited information on the ss along with my not knowing your kitty's history I can't advise you on reducing or holding the dose.
However I do think you made the right call tonight.
Your kitty's numbers are interesting. Since you skipped insulin tonight, it''s a good opportunity to see if his pancreas is putting out some of their own insulin.
get a BG before his next meal and then check BG again 2-3 hours following the meal. He may just bring himself down.
Regarding how much food , feed him as much as he wants as is sounds like he needs to gain weight. I would however serve frequent' small/moderate sized meals . evenly spaced throughout the day. Many of us find our kitties do better that way.
There is a formula, somewhere around here, as approx. how many calories per day a kitty needs - to lose/maintain/gain weight. Hopefully someone will chime in with it.

Former HIGH dose - required a treatment approach very different from the standard Lantus protocol!

Monica:
Rather than having to keep skipping shots, I'd encourage you to reduce the dose. This should enable you to shoot twice a day. I would lower Oggie to 0.1u. I posted a photo of what the dose looks like in your condo from yesterday.
