Yesterday

Cobb has recovered nicely from yesterday's anesthesia. It makes the thought of future anesthesia easier to accept. No lie...I was pretty anxious yesterday though. The vet said since he had actually had a blockage back in 2008, not crystals like I thought, that it's possible it wasn't the anesthesia he had a bad reaction to but he may have thrown a blood clot or something back then. Anyway, we haven't seen anything similar this time so I'm relieved.

Sandy, I wanted to respond to your post from last night. No worries! We are definitely not underestimating the dental. It might not be the only reason that his insulin need is so high, but I think it would be shortsighted of us to not think it's contributing to it. I was surprised to hear the vet sound like she was suggesting differently. It was a long visit (2.5 hours) though so I admit I may have misinterpreted what she said.

I'm so glad that Cobb responded well to - and recovered well from - the anesthesia. It's so stressful to have no control over a process like that. nailbite_smile

Come on, Cobb.....it's time to return to blue!

Have a great day, Suzanne!

I'm glad Cobb has recovered from yesterday's vetty visit...it had to be traumatic for all of you! I hope he comes down a bit for you today...have a great one, Suzanne!

HI Suzanne and Happy Sunday!

It's great that Cobb didn't have any problems this time with the anesthesia. It's so scary even in a healthy older cat, much less a diabetic one!

OK Cobb...the excitement is over...time to get back into those blues you look so great in!

I'm really glad to see Cobb recovering so quickly and that he didn't get too low last night.

Have a great day!

needing a dental isn't likely to be the entire cause of him needing 19u of insulin, but in some cats it can make a huge difference in getting things regulated and having the dose decrease - what Sandy referred to as the "Achilles Heel." I know getting the dental done is going to be out there a ways for you, though.

glad to hear he sailed through the anesthesia ok. i was always worried when punkin had to go under, but every time he came through fine. no doubt having a pro handling things makes it better.

you must be relieved to have yesterday behind you! and Cobb looks pretty good today! woot! :-D

It must feel so good to have vetty stress behind you - for both you and Cobb. I'm sure your BG was probably elevated too. I'm with Julie, even though Neko has had to have anesthesia several times, it's always a nail biter. And especially for you with that previous experience. And of course a dental means more anesthesia, but at least it won't be so worrying when you are able to get to it.

I bet Matty was glad to see you back yesterday.

Paws crossed that R heads off the rise and Cobb gets back to his blues again soon. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Re: 3/30 Cobb PMPS 329

Hi all! Thanks for the visits. No blues for us today but that's ok.

Wendy, Matty is going through peak separation anxiety phase so our pediatrician said we needed to start leaving him with grandparents so he realizes we're coming back. Apparently he did great yesterday and my mom was able to get him down for a nap. I can't imagine what it would have been like if we had had to take him to the vet with us.

Re: 3/30 Cobb PMPS 329

all you had to do was say that and immediately the song popped into my head . . .

sometimes my mommy takes me over to another friends house to play.
sometimes i only stay a little while, sometimes i stay all day . . . BUT

my mommy comes back, she always comes back, she always comes back to get me
my mommy comes back, she always comes back, she NEVER would forget me! :-D

and i can say it's been at least 18 years since i've heard or sung it, but here it is, right there ready to pop out when needed! this is why i can't remember current stuff, my brain is filled with useless junk!!

the song was from a cassette tape and here, courtesty of the miracles of the internet, is the song for you. i just googled it and VOILA! Youtube! which i am now being forced to listen to!

Re: 3/30 Cobb PMPS 329

I LOVE IT!! I was going to say "what's a cassette tape?" Lol. At least I know how to use a rotary phone because my parents refused to go cordless with the rest of the world, but I did have to teach one of my childhood friends how to use it. I have a children's book that I grew up with that has a line about how the kid flipped through a catalog and wrote down his order and mailed it in with a check. I told Matt I need an updated copy of the book where it should say, "I went to Amazon and clicked pay with paypal."

Re: 3/30 Cobb PMPS 329

 i was talking with dyana a few days ago about phones - we both have princess-style ones. mine is in the garage and has a rotary dial but she still uses hers. she has a newer version with PUSHBUTTONS!

technology has changed a ton over the past 20 years. it's pretty amazing. my great aunt was born into the era of horse and buggy and lived to see a man on the moon, which we thought was amazing. but the changes happening now are at a much faster rate. who knows what kind of world little Matty will have when he's 25!

i did notice on youtube it said that song was available on Baby Songs - that's the one we had. i still have that cassette, i suppose, although who knows if it works or not!

YAY to the stressful vetty visit being over :-D

I just had to laugh at the convo you and Julie are having. Well....I laughed, then cried just a little cause I'm starting to realize I'M getting OLD! :?

Have a great night Suzanne!
