Re: 3/30 Boots AMPS 114

Hey Dwight,

I'm just checking in on you and Boots after a two-day absence. Yay on the green PMPS last night! I knew you'd get there; Boots just wanted you to make you wait a little while!

Just to chime in on yesterday's discussion - I bought the PetSafe 5-meal feeder, too. I've had it for several weeks and haven't had any problems with it, although it is a bit loud when it rotates. One of the civies tried to break into it when we first got it but wasn't successful.

Have a great day!

Thanks for stopping in Carla and Shelly.
I will continue looking at the feeders.

Boots is looking awesome today!!!!

We tried a feeder, but Trix - who LUVS food - never caught on to it. Many others have great luck with them though. Good luck with your search, and have a great day!

Thanks Amy for the info. I'll probably still get something but I also need to get a new computer since Microsoft is no longer supporting XP after April 8. Bummer.

Take care.

Oh lookie there...another great blue/green cycle for Boots

Thanks for the info on XP too! My old desktop (which I haven't used in a long time) is XP so I guess if I want to use the bigger screen instead of the laptop, I'm going to have to win the lottery and get a new computer too.

We might give you a hard time, but we're all loving that Boots is responding so well Dwight! We really do celebrate the successes of others here!

Looking super there, Boots!!!

I've never used a feeder since I have Mr. Tobey kitten (well..he's 3 but he still thinks he's a kitten) who likes to eat and we are around a lot anyway to feed Gracie and make sure only she gets her food.

I have to HIGHLY recommend a MAC. After only having PCs and dealing with all the Windows changes, we finally said "forget it" and "Appled" up by replacing PC with MAC, phones with iPhones, and purchasing iPads. I LOVE our MAC and will never ever go back. When there is a new operating system, it just downloads it. I don't have to worry about it becoming archaic and not being supported. And the MAC is just so much more user friendly (and I have used computers as long as they've been around so can get around a PC really well). OK..enough hard sell.

I know that you do Chris and I appreciate it. It's all about our animals.
It looks like he's holding his own.....probably still running on some of the .25 doses but still holding good. Upper greens low blues....I'll take it.

Marje, I'd love a Mac but it's the price tag I don't like. I'm going to look into it the best I can and then see what I can really afford but I'm not holding my breath. :-D

Thanks again to both of you for keeping an eye on us.

and to add to the confusion, after 7 days (14 shots) on the 0.1u dose, if he still is staying under 120, he'll go off of insulin for a 2 week trial to see if he can hold his good numbers without insulin. You've already got 3 of those shots done.

so . . . the feeder might be a moot point since you're already doing so well and may only have a few days to go. Perhaps doing the frozen catsicles (ice cube trays or muffin pans) will hold you through til then. i think we talked about those already, but if not, you mix some water with the cat food and leave the frozen bits out while you're gone. ideally, he waits for them to thaw and eats them spread over the day. something's tickling my memory that you've already tried them?

oh, and one more thing - did we talk about giving 1-2 tsps of low carb food about +9 to try to bring down the preshot numbers?

Today I was actually thinking about what the next step would be if we conquered the .1 dose. Looking at how much insulin a .1 dose is, I couldn't imagine what a smaller dose could look like. So, I'm happy the next step is zero and I hope things go smooth this week.
And the thought of forgoing the feeder for now had also crossed my mind.

No, I haven't tried them yet but I may this week.

And yes we did talk about giving food at +9 but that has totally slipped my mind. With my increased work hours, that won't be happening until the weekend now.
Thanks again Julie for more guidance. I'm going to get a +4 here in a minute and then I'm done until morning

sure, you're welcome!

if you make a couple of sizes of catsickles, like both the muffin pans and the ice cube size, they should thaw at different rates and in theory, be available over a span of time. if you don't have muffin pans or ice cube trays, you could probably put different size blops onto a baking sheet (on wax paper, plastic wrap or parchment paper so you can get them off!) and then dump them all after frozen into a ziplock bag in the freezer.

it's always fun to see someone come in and right off the bat, get stabilized and working off of insulin! :-D
