Hi All,

Thanks to your great help, Lewis has been doing good in the last 3 weeks. He put on about 1 lb in weight and has far less urinations (only twice a day), so something is working here, I guess.

This morning, his AMPS was 123! That's even after he had a bite of his sister's Fancy Feast canfood. I debated for a while, finally decided to give him a 0.25 U with an extra large breakfast, and then I left for work.

Despite how much I was hoping to see another blue number this evening, his PMPS came out to be 260.....we are back in the yellows....Considering the small amount of juice he had this morning, maybe it's not so bad?

I gave him a slight dose bump a few days ago, because 1U doesn't seem to work very well. With 1.2-1.3 U, he's doing much better. With today's PMPS (260), I gave him a fat 1.2 U.

Now I need some advice on dosage.

Lewis seems to be very dependent on insulin. With a bigger dose, his next BG reading will be low; but that low BG will force me to give him a skinny dose, which will bring up the following BG... If you take a look at his SS for the last 4 days, you'll know what I'm talking about. Does that mean he will NEVER live without insulin?

Should I keep the current dose (1.2-1.3 U)?

Is it normal to see such a big difference between AMPS and PMPS?

To thank you for your help, here's a picture of Lewis (black and white DSH) and his civvie sister Timbra (tiger striped DSH). Enjoy

Wendy

Glad Lewis is doing better, and he is beautiful.

What is missing are nadirs. It is hard to tell how the insulin is working if you don't get a number around 6 hours after the shot. It is possible that the dose is taking him low and he is bouncing back up.

You are giving little doses to a new diabetic. I think things are looking good.

I would suggest that you also post on the PZI Support group forum. In the am and pm, there are lots of PZI users who are giving small doses and share your concerns.

Thank you Sue, will do the nadir this weekend and will check out the PZI support group :)

Btw, Lewis loooooves compliments. Thank you! (on behalf of him)
