3-28 Little Man AMPS 92/+2 117/PMPS 159/+2 76/+3 65

:D:D:D Lookin' great Little Man! So glad he's doing well with the change to raw :)
Yes we are finally getting back in line! He adores the raw! Turkey is favorite he goes nuts when its Turkey. He is not a big fan of lamb. I wish I had a supplier I could get rabbit and goat.

Hopefully no poop problems hes got till tomorrow then I'll try a little pumpkin. But goes with territory of food change.

Have you thought about ordering from one of the raw pet food purveyors, like Raw Feeding Miami? https://www.rawfeedingmiami.com/ They were recommended by @Katherine&Ruby and ordering from them has worked really well for us. Their meat is well packaged for shipping -- it was still completely frozen when it arrived -- and Callie has been happy with everything we've gotten from them. It is most cost-effective to order in bulk because of shipping costs so we have been ordering 15 pounds at a time ... but that's a mix of different kinds of meat so you could order some goat and rabbit to try and then a bunch of turkey since you already know he loves that :p. I am not sure how prices compare to buying smaller amounts of the more common meats like turkey etc. locally but might be worth a look. They have tons of protein options.

Yup, Callie definitely started pooping less frequently when we switched to raw. I second @Ashleigh & Ares 's rec of psyllium husk powder. We give it to Callie every day in her food. And now that she's on meds that cause constipation, we have also been giving her miralax to try and keep her regular.

Let's see some poop today, LM!

So is it safe to thaw the raw meat mix the ezc then refreeze? I've always heard it is unsafe to refreeze raw meat like my whole life is these one of those myth things we were led to beleive by our well intentioned parents LOL
Ha I had the exact same question for the exact same reason! From what I read, it is fine as long as it is defrosted in the fridge and not at room temp. https://ask.usda.gov/s/article/Is-it-safe-to-refreeze-food-that-has-thawed

Not sure if you already saw Katherine's post on Raw Feeding Senior Kitties but if not, it has a lot of great info about ordering, preparing and storing raw: https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/raw-feeding-senior-kitties.248460/

Awesome thanks for all the info!! I think ive seen her post before but I need to reread as it was before i started feeding raw.

Hi Rainbow! I love Raw Feeding Miami. I write to Carla the owner with my questions and she responds right away and is so nice. The amount of money I spend on food and the shipping is less than what I would spend on Weruva for a month unless I add something novel like venison. I also buy in bulk, 20 lbs at a time, and that feeds both of my cats for a month and a half. They have turkey thighs that are higher in fat and lower in phos than breast. https://www.rawfeedingmiami.com/search?q=boneless&type=product. They seem to be out of rabbit at the moment (and it's expensive at $15 a pound!) but they do have goat. :) Really happy to see LM doing so well under your watchful eye. :bighug:

Thankyou! Wow expensive little bunnies!

I'm checking into a couple local. For now its buying once a week I'm making 2 to 3 lbs a week and it last a little more than a week since civvie isnt eating. I looked at instructions to cook and it's a ton of work compared to raw prep. I think I'll continue to add a little to her canned and see if I cant convert her eventually.

I haven't tried cooking meat for the cats but if I were to do it I would either poach or spread it on a cookie sheet and bake it, keeping water from the poaching or juices from the pan to mix in with EZC so you don't lose as many nutrients in the cooking process.

I think I told you this but it took my civvie a while to come around to raw. I have her hydrolyzed kibble and her raw food in the two halves of her split bowl, and she now takes a few bites of kibble and then a couple of licks of the raw when she eats, alternating between the two. It's cute. :) I find it so relaxing to watch her eat.

I hope LM poops more for you. They do poop less on raw. Sending poopy prayers! :bighug:
