Re: 3/28-Cini Mini-AMPS 180,+3/238 - What!!?

Hi Cathy,

It could be higher numbers from the dose reduction, I would watch for a continuing upward trend over the next cycle or two and go back up if it continues.

It could be a fur shot.

It could be inconsistent dosing. That's a teeny tiny dose, variation in the amount could very easily lead to wonky numbers. I know I had to be really, really careful about consistency with those micro doses. How are you measuring the dose?

Any chance of contraband?

Hi Laurie,

Thanks for the advise on watching the numbers. I guess it's not out of the realm of reason that I could have given a fur shot this morning.

I am measuring 0.05 units by pulling the insulin out of the pen (I usually draw up about 1 full unit), then I take what's in the syringe and draw the plunger back to about 2 units to settle the liquid and bubbles out and then I push out the air and measure up to the line on the very last hash mark.

I don't think he could have gotten in to anything he shouldn't. Although I have noticed he's been playing "hoover vacuum" in the kitchen more often. I try to sweep every day in case I did drop something on the floor.

ETA: Oh, the only thing I have changed in his meds is reducing the Terbutaline from .5mls twice a day to .5mls once a day in the evening. I did that yesterday. I wonder if that is the issue? Or maybe I should give it more time?

Does he seem to be having more trouble breathing with the reduction in the Terbutaline? One way to keep an eye on that is to count his resting respiration rate...it should be around 30 bpm.

I used to use the drop method to measure micro doses. I'll link the threads here, you might want to take a look at it, I found it was more consistent for measuring tiny doses. Just a thought....

Re: 3/28-Cini Mini-PMPS 199,+3/191 - Skated in under the lin

Hi Laurie,

Cini isn't showing any signs of trouble breathing. His resting respiration rate was 33 just now ( plus or minus a few rapid, curious sniff sniffs since I was sitting so close to him to watch him breath).

Thanks for the links to the micro-dosing! :-D

I had to read it twice to understand what they were doing to get 1 drop or 0.05 units, I think I can do that.

OK, by looking at the pictures in the link above, her 0.15 unit picture is my 0.10 units and in her 0.0 picture my 0.05 would be just a smidge above that.
