Thing is, he typically still has some LC left over from breakfast at that point; he tends to eat a little over half in a sitting, then browse on the rest for 2-3 hours more. It’s not like he isn’t eating…
Yes, steep drops and high bounces have been our bane all along. Although the experiment-in-food of giving him a little carbs (5% in the dry now, and still mostly 0-5% in the wet, as before… mostly because his favorite flavors are 0-3%) does seem to be bearing some fruit. He’s finally having actual curves, even though high ones, and mostly is fitting in a smaller range…like 100-150 points, instead of 200-300 levels of up or down. Mostly. Still, that’s progress. Also that the little morning bounce didn’t last long, went back down to a nadir. (High PMPS following that... the upswings of the curves are all like mini-bounces, but lasting on the order of hours instead of days.)
Though it is also becoming very obvious that that growth in stability - the minor carbs maybe making liver less panicky? - comes with the tradeoff of needing more insulin. Which is… not unexpected. We’ll just work our way gradually up in dose and down in numbers until he’s in a better range, and hope he stays stable through that process. I think keeping the process slow for him to get used to more yellows, then gradually blues, may be necessary. Because that panicky liver…
