Hello LL! ~O)

My girl is recovering from her dental like a champ so far! I went up to visit her in her room this morning and she was happy and purry! I know purring can be self-soothing, but this seemed like happy purring - rolling around on the carpet, dragging herself across it with her claws, etc. She was rubbing her face on everything, which seems like it would hurt :?: but I guess not. I gave her her meds and let her back out into general population. She is washing her face after breffis right now. cat_pet_icon

Her PMBG last night was 161, and I should have shot, but I was paranoid about her going too low because of the anesthesia and not being able to tell us, so I skipped. Doesn't seem to have hurt her, we are getting back on track today. Good riddance icky toofies!!

Have a great day everyone!

Devon, yeah, Bailey's had toofie problems for a while. Several years ago, while she was still eating dry food, she was eating and one of her lower canines got pushed out of place and was crooked - she had a snarl like Billy Idol. We had that one pulled and it was icky looking around the base. Her last dental was about a year and a half ago and she had 8 teeth pulled that time. So I am glad they are gone, and I think she is too!

I realized I posted this in Bailey's condo from yesterday. Thought I would put it here too for an fyi.

Regarding your question about why the vet left one canine...
My vet is a board certified dentist and when I posed that same question to her awhile ago she told me that unless a canine loose, infected, etc., they are VERY hard to pull and the vets would rather leave them.

I have several cats with no or just a few teeth - they do just fine (and feel so much better!!)

Hugs & pets to Bailey.

Thanks Carolyn, makes sense now! My girl has been reeeeally flat today. That's OK, flat is good.

So... my bill for the dental includes $50 for a scale and polish. :? Do you guys think it's $50 per tooth?
