Obviously I will test again in an hour, but I am still concerned about giving Milo .5 units of insulin when I am having to syringe feed him still. Yesterday he had not interest in food at all and did absolutely nothing. First time I've every reported he had no P's in place. He didn't even seem to have the strength to go down in the basement to use the litter box. So I put him in our laundry room with a small pan that he has used. I'm still giving the fluid, which is flushing his system-- as by DH said, he peed forever... How long does the lethargy last after ketones? I was really hoping to see some improvement by now. The only time I see any spunk or action out of him is when I try to help him eat.

Re: 3/26 Milo +11 124 shoot in an hour???

Keep getting ketone tests whenever you can. The recipe for ketones is not enough insulin, an infection/inflammation, and high numbers (and they don't have to be that high), and not eating. It's imperative to get insulin into Milo. Frankly, I wouldn't care what you feed him. You might want to ask your vet about an appetite stimulant if you've tried all of the usual tricks to get Milo interested in food.

Gave Milo his insulin and was able to syring feed him a jar of baby food. Hopefully he won't get to low. I am going to be taking him back to the vet today to have his ketone levels checked. I just wish Milo seemed to be improving.

Wellness has some high calorie foods. If you are syringe feeding maybe there are some higher calorie options? Just blend it in the blender with some warm water. I wonder what others syringe feed? Someone told me a jar of babyfood only has 100 calories. I wonder if you need to get more calories into Milo.

Sending lots of hugs and healing vines.
