Recap of yesterday's BGs

AMPS - 155, 7th cycle of Lantus @ 0.10u
+3- 114
+6- 98
+9- 87
PMPS - 97, 8th cycle of Lantus @ 0.10u
+3- 69
+6- 60

This morning's AMPS was 138 and Cini's +3 was 132.

So far so good with the 0.10un of Lantus. Steering the numbers as need when he starts to onset really fast like he did last night.

Hope everyone is having a calm, cool, and collected Monday!

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini- AMPS 138, +3/132

Hi guys .. these numbers are so nice looking! Glad that he is doing so well on this little dose amount .. have a great day guys!

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini- PMPS 169,+3/40,+4/37

Cini is keeping you busy tonight. I don't know Cini's history well, but do you usually do a +4.25 or +4.5 when he goes low like this?

Up Cini...please

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini- PMPS 169,+3/40,+4/37

Hey Sienne, I'll check him again in a minute (+4.5).

I didn't want to spike Cini up too high by giving him straight 5% or more carbs.

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini- PMPS 169,+3/40,+4/37,+4.5/46

+4.5 was 46, not bad :-D

By the way, he is playing under my chair with a ribbon I tied to it for him. ;-)

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini- PMPS 169,+3/40,+4/37,+4.5/46

Well looks like Cini gets another reduction with that 37! His SS sure looks good. Are you able to half his dose? If you are getting two drops to .1 unit, take him down a drop?

I agree that when he's low like this you probably want to test every 30 minutes. Glad you started to get him up.

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini- PMPS 169,+3/40,+4/37,+4.5/46,+5/48

Hi Marjorie,

I think I can do 1 drop. Right now, 0.10u for me is just above the line for the very last hash mark on the syringe. So I'm thinking just below that hash mark would be 0.05u.

ETA: When do you think I should test him again? In another 30 mins or give it an hour now that he's on his way back up?

And thanks for the encouragement thbigfuzz :-D Can I call you "fuzzy" for short?

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini-+3/40,+4/37,+4.5/46,+5/48.+5.5/50,+6/56

OK, well I think he's high enough now to stop testing every 30 mins.

I'm going to feed Cini a little bit more (2% this time) and test again in about 2 hours.

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini-+3/40,+4/37,+4.5/46,+5/48.+5.5/50,+6/56

Sorry, Cathy...I saw he was coming up but didn't know you had a question. You know him best when he's rising. I think an hour at least is fine. If you are really certain hell continue up, you can wait two. I'm glad you can draw a smaller dose.

The big fuzzy is Tanya :-D :-D

nice surf - i'm glad you've got him up above 50, though.

someone was talking about their fat 0 dose as being drawn by squeezing the plunger tight into the syringe, inserting it into the insulin, releasing the plunger but not actually drawing anything back in. the amount that sucked in by releasing the pressure on the plunger was the dose.

i don't know how that compares to what you're describing, but i wanted to offer the description in case it is helpful to you.

sure would be good if he held this time around.

Re: 3/26-Cini Mini-+3/40,+4/37,+4.5/46,+5/48.+5.5/50,+6/56,+

No worries, Marjorie. I went ahead and tested Cini again and I think he's in a good range for me to go to bed now.

Julie, since Cini is an established, long term diabetic I have been working on the premise that he has to get to 40 before a dose reduction. I never thought he would do that on 0.10 units :-D

I don't think I can use the method you described for getting the insulin out with the pen. I think I'm going to have to draw 0.25 units like I do now and squirt some out till the plunger gets right below the last hash mark on the syringe.

Maybe if I just showed Cini the pen... maybe tap him with it?
