Be careful with psyllium. Kitty has to be drinking enough water or it can make the constipation worse.

I also use psyllium husk 2.5 pinches 2x daily
NOW Supplements, Psyllium Husk... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002RWUNYM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I started with a pinch for a few days. Too much to start can cause bloating.

I got plain psyllium husk powder at a vitamin/supplement store.

Thank you! I'll get to some reading :bookworm:

@tiffmaxee I saw your question regarding psyllium husk powder. I have not tried that before but will look into it. Anything specific I should know? I did pick up some Fortiflora and she has been getting that for the past 3 days.

Great numbers today! Kobe used plain psyllium husk for a little while when we transitioned from his high fiber kibble. We weren't seeing many poops because his system was accustomed to so much fiber.

We put just a pinch in his wet food and added A LOT of water. Otherwise it just absorbs the moisture content of the wet food and then your cat is trying to eat a pate brick.

I agree with everyone else that less is more. Max dose is something like 1/8 of a teaspoon. We never ever got close to that and it was sufficient.

There is a distinctive smell to it. Too much psyllium and I could smell it. Threw that batch out.

Good luck!

when Chai gad diarrhea an internist suggested I add it to her food. Start with just 1/8 teaspoon. You can add it twice a day if it isn’t helping. I also started Visbiome , a probiotic which I give to both of my cats ever since. I don’t give the psyllium since the diarrhea disappeared.
