Stella's Condo

Good Morning!

Everyone, thanks so much for the 'Tornado' tips. Hopefully next time I will be a bit more prepared, and not so amazed as to enable me to 'walk away' from the windows! Stella's BGs did amazingly well despite the outside conditions blowing past us.       Here is our video:

Our first tornado ?

Stella surfed  for most of the day, and did much better than the previous day of her 'vet' visit. Everything seems fine this morning and the kitties seem to have forgotten the weather of yesterday. I guess they figured if I was amazed and laughed during the stormy event it couldn't have been that bad. (I don't take the seriousness of disaster preparation lightly at all - and will be better prepared for a disaster next time. Yesterday was a gentle warning for me that I am NOT prepared and I have a bit to catch up on).

Have a great day! If you have a good weather app for Orlando, FL please let me know. I guess I can't count on the one installed on my phone...

Re: 3/25 Stella AMPS/187

Glad you and the kitties survived the tornado yesterday. Losing power is such a pain with a diabetic kitty. I had to test Furball one night when we lost power and she gave me a 48. Not fun to test by flashlight/candlelight every 20 minutes. I hope Stella gives you some greens today.

Re: 3/25 Stella AMPS/187

Morning Mary,
Stella doesn't seem to have been affected much by the storm! I hope there's a lovely surf in store for you today!
I just watched your video. YIKES!! Welcome to the Sunshine State. ohmygod_smile We've got a couple of battery powered lanterns from Harbor Freight for power outages. They make a lot of light. i'll see if i can find the name for you. Also, we have 2 igloo coolers. Fill both half way with ice before the storm comes, let sit about 12 hours, drain the water out. Now, they are good and cold. Leave one about 2/3 full and put your stuff in it. the 2nd one is filled to the top and only opened to refill the one with "stuff". We kept ice for 6 days during the 2004 storms. WAAYY back then i was only worried about keep our food cold. Now, i worry about keeping the insulin.
have a wonderful day!

Wow Carla! I cannot imagine having to test every 20 minutes with a flashlight. What a nightmare!!!

ecurie, I would love the name of those lamps! I definitely need to get prepared.

The handyman was in here while I was at work and Stella seemed to spike a little. Too much excitement I guess. Everything looks ok though.

Again, thanks everyone for the great tornado tips. :-D

Great lamp. I want one of those. :-D

Mary, even though I joke about not seeing the tornado... I love the video. The narration... the wonder and awe.

I've been through enough of those, I don't even look up from what I'm doing.

The thing about tornadoes, there is usually warning, you can see it or hear it coming and have time to gather the cats and take cover.

Looks like that is a second floor condo/apartment? If there was a confirmed tornado, I'd want to take the cats and get to a safer level.

Earthquakes on the other hand what can you do?

No warning... can happen at anytime.

Don't want to be under/near something big/dangerous/heavy. nailbite_smile
