Jack is doing well today playing with the little cats and guarding his yard.

I spent the day at the Vet with Scooter because his eye was not better and he was throwing up and unable to eat. After putting him out to get a good look inside the eye and shaving his head to look at the bump on his head the Vet realized it was much worse and a very aggressive form of Adenocarcinoma in his mouth and nose and skull. He actually has 4 bumps on his head. He is home with me tonight on buprenorphine, fluids and the eye drops to keep the eye wet. A scraping was sent out with a large amount of cells on it for verification. He is much happier on the meds and able to eat tonight.

The next step is an oncologist at the University. The big problem now is in order to even try to get at the cancer it would require removing part of his face since it is so fast moving. I would post a picture of him but it is pretty awful. So tonight I will not remove Scooter from my lap to check social media or phone calls I will just let them go and spend time with my "little old man". :(

((((Linda)))) ((((Scooter)))), I am so sad to read this. Poor Scooter to have been in such awful pain. It's good that the bupe is helping him now and that he is eating. Hold him close. Sending healing vines, white light, snowflakes, good thoughts, and prayers for your "little old man".

I am so heartbroken to hear about Scooter's diagnosis. You have taken such good care of Scooter and I know how much you love him.

I'm glad you have a University Vet Teaching Hospital near you. They are the best place to go.

Sending lots of vines and prayers and many, many hugs. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am wondering if they could do small "seed" implants of radioactive matter to try to slow the tumor growth.
Or if anyone has used radio frequency to slow or shrink tumors in cats.

My heart is breaking for you at this news, my friend. I am so sorry. I hope the oncologist can help and can give you the tools to keep him comfortable if he can't offer any treatment.

Sending many prayers and hugs your way.

I am taking him to the U of M Vet clinic hopefully next week. Do you know where I can read about the small seed implants? or radio frequency?

I know I maybe grasping at straws based on his age and where the carcinomas are in his face but I am willing to be informed to make better choices.

Thanks for everything you have done for Scooter. :)

I don't know if anyone has tried those on cats. PubMed lists some abstracts which indicate that radio frequency ablation may reduce tumor size to make it operable in humans or make the person more comfortable.

The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis, CA 95616, USA tried it in treating hyperthyroidism, which suggests they have access to the equipment. It may only shrink the tumor, which might then make it operable or the patient more comfortable.

The 2 searches I used on PubMed:
radiofrequency ablation AND tumor
radioactive seed AND tumor
