Simon's AMPS was better than yesterday, but I think the baytril is just doing a number on him. Yesterday, he threw up in the AM and today he did some poo poo on my rug downstairs instead of in his litterbox. I am giving him a pepcid before the antibiotic and also making sure I give it with food. I also am putting a little pumpkin in his food 1x/day. Now he is refusing the pill pocket with his med and he seems to be taking alot longer to eat his food. Normally he scarfs it down and now he slowly chews it. He does finish all his food, but just takes him double the amount of time. I know I am obsessing over all these little things, but I just worry when things don't seem like normal. Cleo seems a little better today, except for the fact that she hates me because I am shooting her baytril down her throat 2x/day with the pill gun. Not a happy experience for her!

Question: Can miralax and pumpkin cause a spike in bg? I figure there is natural sugar in pumpkin but I don't know if anyone else has seen higher numbers when they use either of these.

Hope everyone has a good day. Sorry it sounds like I am complaining about everything! It just is because my life is revolving around how my kitties are feeling right now. At least I know y'all understand -- my family and friends think I'm crazy!

Re: 3/22 Simon AMPS 130

If Simon is not having an issue with constipation there is no need to give him mirilax or pumpkin. The pumpkin can help with diarrhea and constipation. But if he is normal you can cut these out. The baytril isn't giving him diarrhea is it? It hasn't done this to my dog. I know clavamox did this with Maverick. We had to trim all the hair on his back end so he would be easy to clean. Not fun.

Re: 3/22 Simon AMPS 130

Karrie, I guess I thought the pumpkin would help settle his stomach in addition to the pepcid. I'll stop giving him the pumpkin and/or miralax. No, baytril does not seem to be giving him diarrhea, thank goodness.

Re: 3/22 Simon AMPS 130

Good morning guys .. don't have much in the way of advice as far as meds go .. but I know how hard it is not to worry about our furbabies, especially when we know something isn't settling good with them .. I hope simon starts feeling better soon and that cleo forgives you soon ... have a great day guys!

I too can't give much advise on the meds. I hope Simon feels better soon. I know on how our lives evolve around how our babies are feeling. My friends too think I am a little nuts. oh well - i think they are worth the effort.

Have a great day today!
