Goodmorning all!

Woke up to a nice (for Sasha) BG reading of 317. He was very alert this morning and happy, until I had to give him his Baytril and another 50mls of subqs. I am going to give him .50mls twice a day..just until we're in the clear with the ketones which I hope happens with the increase in insulin. I took a ketone test with the moniter this morning, it read .08.

He was so picky last night and this morning with his food... it was driving me crazy. He would beg for food and as soon as I would give him something, he'd sniff it and turn his nose up in the air, and then jump up on the counter and stare at the cabinet where he knows I keep the food because he wanted something else instead. What's delicious and out of this world to him one day is competely loathed the next...ughhh..frustrating! So I actually went ahead and was trying different things to get him to eat. Finally we hit jack pot with Merrick's Cowboy Cookout. Im sure he'll hate that tomorrow...

Other then that he's doing great!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Morning Tara, and that is a nice AMPS for Sasha. Welcome to the fuds war where they like it one day and snub the next! I think Sasha will enjoy the Cowboy Cookout. Mags loves it but causes a spike with her, but not all kitties. Have a nice day.

Nice amps!!! Glad the ketones a coming down and that he liked the CC! I think your fluid plan is fine. If you ripen out of time or he starts to not like the process, it is ok to give him 100 mls at one time as long as he has absorbed everything before.j

 on the fuds thing. I always have opened cans in the fridge, 'cause Checks likes it one hour, but not the next.
Sasha, yer gonna drive your mamabean nuts :-D

Re: 3/21 Sasha PMPS 238

WHOAAAAAA....shooting him in a YELLOW? Completely unchartered territory for me, but I did it! This little guy is unpredictable!!!

OOOhhhh the food thing...  just like when i wouldnt eat my food as a kid, and used to hear about the starving kids in the world from my mom, I 've been telling Sasha about the starving catsin the world. (I really hope my neighbors cant hear me in this building!) He is driving me crazy. Unlike my mom who would make me sit at the dinner table for hours until I finished everything on that plate, I cant do that to Sasha!!!!

Ann, he loved the Cowboy Cookout this morning...just tried to give it to him again..no luck. lol go figure....

Barb, i have about 7 cans of food in my fridge...sigh.....and Ive pulled all the tricks, I think. Bonito flakes, parmesan cheese, oregano, crumpled up freeze dried chicken... lol, if anyone has any more suggestions I would appreciate it and so would my wallet!

Marge, just gave him another .50 Subq's. I'm telling you he's better with them then he is when I give him the Baytril...claws came out this morning...

lol, all in all we are in good shape though. 2 weeks ago today I wouldve lost him if it wasnt for all of you. He sure does have a lot of guardian angels...and so does his mom!!! Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HUGS!!!!!!!

That there is some mighty fine shootin'

I'm liking the no ketones :-D

Some kitties don't like cold food - sometimes warming it a bit in the microwave helps make it more appetizing.
How many oz. has Sasha been consuming per day these days?

BTW - whenever you shoot your lowest PS ever , it's a good idea to get a +1 and +2 if you can. That's where you find clues as to whether it may be a busy cycle.

Tara, have you tried Fortiflora on his food? It's a powder/granules, made from animal digest (ugh), and is used for digestive issues, I think
I sprinkle it on Checks food, and he goes nuts over it.

I can mail you a couple of packets, if you want to try it, before investing. Checks tries to lick it off the food, if I don't mush it in a little.

Hi Tara!

Tell Sasha great job with the lower PMPS. cat_pet_icon :thumbup

I am wondering if the baytril may be causing a little tummy upset? Usually baytril is a little more forgiving on the GI system, but not always. I was going to suggest giving it with food, but as I read here: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=9620, it says not to give it with food and not w/in two hours of dairy products or antacids. Hmmmmm??? Anyway, that page seems to be a good reference, and provides a link to a client information sheet.

A lot of folks with give their kitties probiotics while they are on a/b's. A common one is fortiflora http://www.purinaveterinarydiets.com/Product/FortiFloraCatNutritionalSupplements.aspx. Cat's seem to really like this stuff.

There are others who have used probiotics from health food stores. I am not sure which one's exactly. Maybe you could put that in your subject line as a question, or ask on health.

I never had the money for the fortiflora or other probiotics. When latte was on multiple a/b's at one time it was suggested to try plain greek yogurt. She really enjoyed this. I do not know how much it did/did not help. At least I felt I was doing something. :?

JUst food for thought, if you continue to see a decrease in appy. :-D

if the baytril is a liquid, it may taste really bad. i only got one dose down punkin. he immediately started drooling, then walked around vomiting all over the floor. not a happy time for either of us. people here told me that no matter what the flavoring (we had chicken flavoring) the base med is very bad tasting.

if it's pills, i can't remember if you've mentioned pill pockets. have you tried them? the duck and pea don't have sugar in them and my cats think they are the finest treat ever.

oh yeah - and WAHOO on the pmps! awesome and fabulous all rolled into one.
