Gracie is a little sleepy today but also stressed out from the appearance of the dreaded BUG GUY. When she was a baby, she found a little "hammock" of sorts under the recliner; she's still small enough to get in there but her feet hang down and she wasn't happy when I pulled her out of there to test her. She had a beautiful night last night with only a tiny bit of gravy to slow her down early in the cycle. I'm so happy to see NDW gone and see her back in Gracie healing numbers.

I'm running way behind in getting started on work so I'll just wish you all a happy day. I'm not sure if I'll get to condos but I'm thinking of you all.

Good morning guys .. I agree, these numbers are wonderful, and I hope the continue all day long .. How sweet gracie has a secret spot she can still get into .. when twix was a baby, one day we could not find her AT ALL .. and finally looked under our bed, that sits very very low to the ground with only about a 3in clearing from the frame to the floor, but she had gotten under there, and tore the bottom of the boxspring open and then climbed up INTO the boxspring :lol: we had to dismantle the whole bed to get her out! Anyways .. have a great day guys!

CD: so glad to see you in our condo!! LOVE IT!!! Paws crossed that this little girl will think surfing here is a good idea!

Devon: that is so funny about Twix!!! I've heard of cats doing that and so when we got our box springs, I made sure they had heavy duty material on the bottom instead of the soft, feathery stuff!! You two are good sleuths!! :lol: :lol:

Question about my pen: it's at 30 days today. It looks like the insulin is still ok but to be on the safe side, do most of you just start a new pen at about that time or do you wait for the BG numbers to start looking icky??? As much as I don't want to waste "good" juice, I also want to be sure Gracie's nice numbers aren't stopped by bad juice and then we have to figure out what the problem is. I know several of you change out pens religiously at 28 days.....any thoughts are appreciated.

:thumbup Great day, Gracie!! You have pretty much answered your own question.. some of us obtain a new pen every 28-30 days, while others use their pen until they see the #s creep up with no explanation except "old juice". I personally am very agressive with Baby & definitely replace the juice on Day 29 or Day 30 even if the #s are looking good. I.. like you, hate to waste but I don't want to test & shoot her only to find out that the juice is bad.
Unnecessary stress on her & me.. just my personal preference.

I just finished a pen that went almost 36 days, but the last 2 she was going up, so taking that into consideration., maybe you should do a new pen, as to not disrupt this grat Run of numnbers!!

we always changed out mochas pen around 28 days .. sometimes her good numbers did not even make it the full 28 days and we changed around 25 or so .. but a lot of people on here are able to use their pens till the last drop, with decent numbers the whole time ..

Awesome cycle last night for Gracie - I love it when they do things like this on their own. SWEET! :-D :-D :-D

As for the pen - you probably could go longer, but for me - I just change them out on the same day each month. It's just easier for to to keep track of, no risk on wonkie numbers etc. When we used the vial I could routinely go two months without any problems.

Gracie!! Please!! You hafta be head sous chef on the scallops, OK? Please? I think Tess would be a great assistant. Watch out for Willie though - he may eat them all. :cool: See you guys there! I am soooooooo excited!!! ~~ Mannie

GracieD was still on her first pen after about 45 days and it was working well for her. Now I'm assuming the insulin was fine but I can't be sure since even if it was bad, she may have been heading into remission already. 45 days is about where I'd go to a new pen though, just to be safe.

I agree with the others who change out their pens after 28 days. I just don't want that extra concern. It's still a bargain compared to the vials, so, that's how I look at it.

What a great run Miss Gracie has going! I'm coming up on the end of the month on my first pen, so glad you asked the question!

My Miss Belle was always the queen hider. While she was quite fond of boxsprings, her most infamous hiding episode involved cramming herself into a pillowcase at a hotel . Took an hour to find her!

ANNE!!! I hope you all are doing great. Gracie cannot wait to see her best friend Muffin at Mocha's OTJ party....isn't it absolutely wonderful?

Sandy, Devon, Michelle, Nicole, and Roni: I think I'm going to take your suggestion and be aggressive and change the pen out...I don't want to get her having lovely cycles and then pfffttttt. I almost wonder if her curves last night and this morning aren't because of fizzling juice because they are so DIFFERENT for her; not going really low and just having a nice surf. Last night I gave her some 14% gravy early to slow her really fast drop and I also gave her some +1 this morning because the 74 was lower than her +10 and she usually tanks if that's the case. But she didn't....so.....????

Jason: hmmmm...that's interesting and that's the longest I've heard anyone say they used a pen....maybe because she was going OTJ...you could be right.

Karrie: when Gracie was a kitten, the chair was off limits for people :lol: Now we just check to make sure she isn't in there; she doesn't get in there much anymore...only when something scares her; and no, Tobey couldn't figure it out....we looked and looked for her and then I remembered that's her little security place.

Christie: that is a very funny story..a pillowcase? Sounds like she and Twix have something for beds, etc.

I use mine as long as i possible can...i used one for 50-60 days...
but my mom used to say i would "squeeze a nickel until the Indian rode the Buffalo" :lol:

Well...interesting day here and this definitely makes me think the insulin might be toasty because she didn't even try to go low like she usually does and
she popped up...same as last night. Of course, I suppose dosecrease could be a possibility but her nadirs are decent now that she got out of the NDW. So
we'll go with the new pen tonight and see what happens.

Gracie - green little Gracie - nice cycle today... what however is up with that +6? Good luck with the new pen - it will be interesting to see what she does. Go Gracie!

Michelle: yes, it will and it looks like she's going up so will she come back down with the new juice tonight? I'd love to see her do that but Mike is bone tired from flying back and forth across the U.S. 3 times in as many days and I have to work tomorrow ...so we'll see!

It is POURING down rain here....wow...I'd forgotten what it's like! :lol:

maybe these two wanted to share the yellow spotlight together tonight. he liked the 240's for a bit too. Mannie hasn't budged: looks like a night off for me. maybe she knows too that her beans are beat, and need some rest. I've always felt that Mannie sensed that, and somehow managed to give me what i needed. as silly as that may sound.

Good luck with the new pen. I'm looking forward to see if it makes a difference. Go new pen!

Welcome home Mike - I hope you can get some rest too.
