Good morning all,

It's been a rough start this morning. I woke up twice throughout the night to Choco scraping on the floor because he had just peed!!! I'm not sure what this is all about. He also smells of it for some reason and will be getting a bath tonight. He used to have a problem with doing this in the house and was even on prozac for a while, which didn't seem to help. I had to keep him out on the Catio since nothing worked and he just would not stop peeing everywhere. When he was diagnosed with FD, I brought him in and until recently, he was doing so well. It's a very frustrating situation. Needless to say, I am struggling to stay awake this morning but hopefully, the day will fly by (fat chance). Other than Choco being a bad boy, he seems to be doing fine otherwise. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I would get him in for a urine draw and culture for sure. After dealing with an undiagnosed UTI with my dog - it is better to be safe than sorry. We think its in her kidneys now and she's on baytril for 6 weeks. And her appetite is in the toilet. She pees on herself when she sleeps.

Did you change his litter at all or the placement of his box?

Hi Karrie,

I have not changed anything with his litter boxes. The room where he eats his wet food has a litter box and he has no problem urinating in it. He went in it this morning and I stood there to make sure he didn't just go a little bit because I was thinking that after going on the floor twice throughout the night, he wouldn't have much coming out but he let out a full load. I do want to clarify something since he does have a history with ketones. With his numbers being so low, I shouldn't have to be worrying about ketones at this point correct?

Me too Natalia. Luckily I have tile. 3 1/2 more hours of work to go!!! I have not been able to visit anybody's Condo today so I hope that Enana is doing good. You all have a wonderful day! :mrgreen:

beautiful numbers! marco will pee on carpet if he is upset or mad. angel will pee on the floor if he gets his feelings hurt, or is stressed. :shock: so far no female kitty that i have had will urinate elsewhere...

Thank you Binks. After talking with a friend, it kind of made sense that the ketone problem happens when the numbers are higher like Choco was when he went into DKA but maybe I'm totally off. I haven't tested him in a while but would like to get some advice about it.

Choco got a bath (which he was not too happy about) and is currently licking himself dry. I'm not sure if Mocha's party has started yet so we're gonna go and check it out. Have a great night everyone!

you already know that i'm not a wise one...just a wise-a$$ :-D
but there has been a lot of discussion here about keeping cats under the renal threshold, which is when they begin spilling ketones
over into the urine.

If i were you, i'd put 'ketone ?" in your subject line so someone can give you better info on that.
I don't even want to speculate on what number renal threshold is thought to be, as it's been awhile since i've read about it...

maria...went back and researched some posts, and they say that, of course, ECID...but renal threshold is generally above 240 or 250 bg...
