Good Morning LL. Today is bright and sunny here in Southwest NY.
Checkers' day is starting out nicely. Hope for more green; if not, I'm happy that he feels good and is playful and affectonate.
I sure wish I could get him accustomed to getting his back end touched. Been trying for almost 14 years. Touching his back legs/feet, or side, is risking being gashed by the nails on those big back bunny feet.

I keep track of where on his scruff I shot last time, but would really like to go down to the shoulders, or lower.
I have tried many times, and he jerks away, leaving me to wonder if he got a fur shot.
He doesn't feel it at all on the scruff.

Have a wonderful Sunday, Everyone.

Re: 3/21 Checkers amps/189..+3/97

Are you giving him food to distract him from the shot?? A little cooked or freeze dried chicken would help so much--When they are eating, the world goes away
Barb, I'm the one who urine tested Moonie for 11 months because she went ballistic every single time I tested or shot her!!
Sometimes it took 3 hrs. just to get a shot into her--Those were very dark days then..
Once I could bg test, & learned how to shoot her, it all came together, but we were SLOW learner--
I do the top of the shoulders, as Moonie has a pretty small scruff--
You Will Get It--Not to worry! Nice numbers already!!!!

Re: 3/21 Checkers amps/189..+3/97

How about a +4 to keep track of Checker's numbers. He may be angling for a decrease since this is a nice drop and it's still early in the cycle.

Re: 3/21 Checkers amps/189..+3/97

Just got a 79 at +5......ooh cool  Thanks Sienne, that makes mama happy.
I don't usually test the +4 & +5.....his nadir is usually, but not always, +6.

Roni, he hates being touched while he eats. I have to distract him with something, to get my hand to his scruff. He watches to see what I have in my hand. (syringe)
I keep trying to get him used to being touched on his sides and lower. Obviously I didn't know it would be important some day, or I would have started years ago.

It must have been so stressful for you, trying to test and shoot Moonie all that time.

Re: 3/21 Checkers amps/189..+3/97..+5/79

That Checkers is pretty sly, watching to see what you have in your hand! Too bad you can't shoot his shoulder while he has his head in his bowl. That works for Stu, who never even notices the injection. Oh well, you do what you have to do! Stu has just discovered home-cooked chicken. Now I'm sunk!

Oh, that reminds me, I need to cook some chicken also. Checkers looooves turkey breast, so I guess it's time for that again too.
I caught him last year up on the counter, feasting on the cooked bird..good thing it was cool. . Little brat!
Of course, I ran for the camera before I scolded him

I need to see if I can find out what's in the baked deli ham that he used to love. It's proably got some kind of sugar, and Heaven only knows what else.
Going to grab some chicken from the freezer.

Re: 3/21 Checkers amps/189..+3/97..+5/79...+6/83..278+11 My Bad!

Oh gees, I can't believe I did this. I forgot to pick up a dish of dry this afternoon. I wasn't sure, but suspected it was Checkers that cleaned the bowl.
I need the backbone to not cave, when my Tuxedo civvie screams at me for dry.

This number of 278 could partly be also dinner spike.
I got a 239 at 5:45
and 278 @ 6:30, about half hour after dinner.

Oops! It was a very pretty cycle until that yellow.

Don't be surprised if Checkers' numbers are off tomorrow morning, too. Dry takes a while to clear the system. You also know not to feed within 2 hours of shot time, don't you? You don't want your PS number to reflect the influence of food.
