Taz has been seeing blues more this week. I'm hopeful that will continue to be the case if we can keep his pain at bay. He finally had his dental last week (his teeth were causing him a lot of pain), followed by a pancreatitis flare up. We've altered his eating, which he loves because he now gets to eat 10 times a day, but it doesn't appear to be affecting his glucose too much. It's also cut down dramatically on his indigestion.

Today is curve day and I'm pretty sure he's already nadired (usually around +3). Does it look like he needs a dose increase?

In my opinion, Taz has been on this dose long enough and you have seen mostly mid-ish blues. You did have one green a few days ago. If it were my cat, I would do a .25 increase - and you do enough testing to keep him safe. How is Taz doing now?

Mid-ish blues is still considered too high while using an AlphaTrak right? Goal would be between 80-120? I wasn't sure if it was the pain from his pancreatitis that had his numbers raised at the beginning of the week.

He's been doing better since Tuesday. He did have to go to the vet yesterday (45 minute drive each way), so I gave him some gabapentin beforehand to hopefully relax him. I was worried that the stress would cause another flare up, so I'll be watching him closely in the next few days.

I would not change anything tonight for sure! Maybe with everything he has had going on you should hold a while regardless of numbers. He is still healing.

We also tweaked his diet a bit a few days ago. I read that for pancreatitis, it's better to feed tiny meals through out the day, so hes currently eating 10 times a day. He loves it and seems a lot less stressed. Plus he's exercising himself by running to the food dish constantly. :D It will be interesting to see if his numbers stay lower or if it's a fluke.

I wouldn't change his dose yet. You don't want nadirs lower than 90 with an AT. Today is also 6 cycles after that green so there's a good change he might see some action tonight.

Oh yikes. Thank you for mentioning that. I'll be sure to keep an eye on it. I wish I was able to get a few more nadir readings over the last few days. I'm curious to whether he's had more greens and I just can't catch them at the right time.

i feed Ares like that too. it gets humdrum constantly feeding, but it seems to be how he is most comfortable! some cats just need to graze all day..lol

Right! So it’s better to make one change at a time. I’m so glad he’s enjoying the feedings.

He has always loved food and before he was diagnosed, he only ate 3 times a day (every 8 hours). This is like heaven for him right now. Lol. As soon as his feeder goes off, he takes off running to it.
