More struggles getting Kona to eat this morning. She barely ate and I tried toppers and several other foods. I hope she doesn't get too low today.

I think she might having teeth issues as I've noticed her lately eating more to the side. I tried pate for her to be able to lick it more, but that didn't work. Her dental is not until April 4th, so we are a couple weeks away.

I'm stressing...

6:45am - Shot 1.25U
7:20am - Gave 4mg of Cerenia + Mirataz transdermal to stimulate appetite

Jason I’m so sorry you’re having trouble with kona eating, I can identify with that. It is stressful trying to figure out what’s bothering them. I so wish they could talk or at least point to where it hurts!
I have Tiger on a schedule of a half of cerenia regimen and it seems to be helping him. But I know ECID. I hope you figure it out. Are her gums red or look inflamed?
I never knew having a cat meant you have to be a detective too, but we do!

Hope you both have a good day!

Thanks so much for your support, Deb. I looked at her teeth this morning, I see some slight redness in the gums, but looks pretty normal from what I can tell. Maybe I’ll try to pull up some photos online to compare what is normal.

How much cerenia are you giving per day? I have more ondanstetron and it’s cheaper, I’m wondering if that will work better for her. Have you tried that one for Tiger? I know everyone says they sometimes need both.

No more animals for me after these cats!

Good idea to look online and compare.

As for cerenia, I’m giving a half every night and a half every other morning. I tried both every time and it was too much, he got too sleepy. I also tried the cerenia at night and the Ondansetron at morning but he didn’t so as well eating. But ECID! You may try different scenarios to see what works. That’s what I did. Each pill treats differently. Tiger is very sensitive to drugs, it doesn’t take a lot for him usually, ie just a dab of mirataz makes him eat non stop and crying for food, to the point of vomiting

I agree no more for us either! Our dog was going to be the last for us, but alas the cats came along and adopted us. Each one having their own set of health issues which have taken a toll on us, but wouldn’t change it for the world if I could. Love em so much and they give so much in return!

Just a thought about the pate not working. If it's because it's really thick, perhaps thinning it with some good bone broth would help. There are premade broths for pets without onions and such if you're not into making your own. You could try blending the food with or without broth with a stick blender or food processor to loosen it up.

Great advice, I was thinking about blending up some to try as well. Thanks so much!!!

Although she didn't eat much this morning, her numbers are not too bad. I'll keep checking... I'm sure the meds have kicked in and she would eat snacks if needed.

I was just going to suggest using a food processor or blender and mix with water to make more of a soup she wouldn’t have to chew. :bighug::bighug:

Yeah I have said that before and they always manage to steal my heart :cat:. I'm sorry you are having such a time with Kona not eating. I can't relate as Oliver will try and get into the trash and has even been caught running off with the kitchen sink sponge :p. I'm hoping that the change of medicine you are going to try is the thing that helps her the most!!

Running off with the kitchen sink sponge... ha ha ha, I would've LOVED to see that.

Kona ate her breakfast like she was starving this morning. I'm relieved, for now. Off to work!!! Be back at PMPS.
