Happy Sunday to all Do Lou is feeling good this morning all P's in place we are using a new meter as of last night I still love the freestyle lite but I had read a lot about the wavesense presto and had thought long time back about getting one strips are very affordable so we shall see how we like it, I must have like 8 meters now   anyway love how fast it sips seems even quicker then the new freestyle strips. Meant to make a condo yesterday but was playing catch up all day with house stuff since we had gone a on hike friday that was supposed to a be a 5 mile loop and we ended up walking a wee bit more then 10 since the loop does not exist anymore this will teach me to always get a new trail map each year but I am spoiled to most places not totally changing a trails :?: anyway it was a nice day and we had plenty of water but Do Lou got his shot later that day since we were over 2 hours getting home with walking that much further it was so funny in a way since I had only done the loop once years ago and I kept thinking it seemed different well anyway we met someone on the way back and they had a new map and sure enough the loop part of the trail was no longer there sigh... and whats worse is the loop sign at the trailhead is still there you would think they would remove that as well if they had changed the trail lay-out

omg on the hike - had that happen to em too. i don't always get new trail maps either, use the old ones all the time... lesson learned huh - for me too! I am glad that it was a good hike though. I love the long ones when I have time to do them.

Wonderful numbers today for Do Lou - love the green!

   love the pic well I can assure you that is exactly what my kids used to say I burnt my kids out when they were young dragging them hiking everywhere now only my oldest takes hikes some I mean you mention hike to them and they run the other way and we did not drag them on long hikes but hiking his my passion and looking back we did take them on a lot guess I thought they would grow to love the woods as I do but alas no..... but as for my hike they other day DH and I had to really walk fast to get out before dark it was pure exercise those last 4 miles

I would be totaly lost, as I lose my bearings in the woods-When we were able to hike, DH always found the way back!
GREAT numbers for DL today!!

LOL on the lost to me there is no such thing as lost but I have a really really good sense of direction in the woods have gone off trail many many times and I always know where to go just when DH started walking forest with me that is close I would cut across hills to make longer hikes and he would be like where are you going but of course I have that area so memorized I do not off road unless I know my woods well.

That is one long hike you went on, especially when you were thinking you should be finished in 1/2 the time. My DH and I accidentally took a wrong turn on a hike in the North Carolina mountains once and ended up on the "only for expert hikers" trail. One part of the trail went right around a sheer cliff and we had to hang on to ropes that they attached somehow to get around to the other side of the cliff. Here we were in sneakers, holding on for dear life, hanging onto the side of the tallest mountain in North Carolina. I have never been so scared in my entire life! I learned my lesson and now always pay attention to signs on trails and read my trail map very carefully.

Dou Lou is looking fabulous today!

Another Spring Green kitty today!

I hope you slept in today! I've only really had it happen on skies, late season and the signs were gone! And, yes, frostbite!

Nice numbers for Do Lou! I guess he enjoyed your hike yesterday!!! No pokes!

It's surprising that remnants of the old trail loop weren't still visible. But then, they probably obliterated them on purpose to keep people off while the trail recovers. I love maps and compasses and now I have 3 different GPS apps on my new phone. I'm still learning how to use them and it is really fun. Even if you are out of range of wireless/cellular, if you know the area you plan to be in, you can download ahead of time the portions of the maps you will be using. The satellite will then put your route on the downloaded maps while you are in the field. If you don't download ahead of time, you can still track your route by satellite, but have to wait 'till you get home for the program to draw it on a map. It is fascinating. These programs will keep track of anything you ask them to (pace, distance, landmarks, waypoints, moving time, barometric pressure, etc. etc.)
Now if my phone would only make coffee . . .

Have a good evening, guys,

Ella & Rusty

:thumbup way to go Do Lou!

Lisa, you certainly got your exercise on that hike, didn't you? The last time I went on a hike, I think it ended up being about 7 miles. At that time, I took my Kodi and Rushka with me. I didn't realize that the trail was so long OR so up and down hills. Those hills almost killed me. Poor Rushka, who was about 10 years old at that time, was so tired I had to pick her up to get her in the car. But, it felt good to me and I slept like a baby that night!

Re: 3/20 Do Lou amps 149 +4 82+5.5 111

I've been fooled by trail changes and disappearing markers after a logging operation; can't hang markers on trees if they've been cut down. I think it was Daniel Boone who said, "I have never been lost, but I will admit to being confused for several weeks." ;-)

Beautiful numbers for Do Lou today, and good decision to switch out from the Freestyle if it's a Lite model. I just read some indications that it doesn't handle cat blood the same way it handles human blood.

Hope tomorrow is as good as today was!

Oh, no!

i'm not even going to make a joke about Moses and the waters, etc...

just sending healing vines his way.

What a nice PMPS for DL!!! Hope Moses is doing ok now!!!

The hike sounds great; I'm so glad you could get out, stretch your legs, get some fresh air. I'm sorry I've missed your condo so much lately....I'm BAD!!!
