Upped Hershey's scale by .1u for each range (as of PMPS 2/29), so:
350+ .9u
300 - 349 .8u
250 - 299 .7u
200 - 249 .6u

2/29/12
PMPS (400) Walked 30X; .9u
+4 Brief Play
+6 (173) Walked 3X

3/1/12
AMPS (393) .9u
+6 (234)

PMPS (233) Walked 35X; .6u
+5.5 (123) Walked 3X

3/2/12
AMPS (373) Walked 10X; .9u
+6 (290)
+9.5 (282)

CURVE:
PMPS (203) .6u (Miscommunication at our house. Didn't retest to make sure rising.)
+2 (215) At +1.5 played with a toy with Doug. Seems to want to play laying down or sometimes standing, but not moving back legs.
+4 (96)
+5 (94)
+6 (95) Fed
+8 (202)
+10 (259)

3/3/12
AMPS (401)
+2 (360)
+4 (182)
+6 (127)
+8 (335)
+11 (385) Actually +10.75

PMPS (389) Walked 7X; .9u

Having trouble getting him to walk. Not sure if he's too distracted, bored, hurting (Doug thinks his leg with surgical hip is a little shorter. I do notice that he does not bear as much weight on it. Not sure if it's always been that way and I just didn't notice because he was so active. Sometimes that leg quivers briefly. And, in the past weather changes seemed to cause him discomfort.)... Us being gone a lot last week threw his routine off, too.

He infrequently shows interest in the laser light. His tail will swish and sometimes he'll jump to bat it - once - and then it's like he doesn't know what to do with it.

So - do you think he's still settling into this new dose?

Hope y'all are having a great day!

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

Re: 2/29 - 3/2 Hershey's new scale

Hi Libby,

Good to get some news. I was wondering about Hershey. I think your nadirs are looking nice. Today's is running a little longer than usual. Wish we could get the preshot number a little lower. As I nag everyone, a curve this weekend?

Re: 2/29 - 3/2 Hershey's new scale

Sue -

Nice to know we were missed!

I can start a curve now, not sure I can hold out for 24 hours, but I'll see what I can do. It seems a good time since there was a miscommunication at our house and I'm uncomfortable with the insulin Hershey got. So, will test every 2 hours from that 2:15pm injection. :YMSIGH: So much to learn - process - and remember... I keep logging on the forum, reading posts and wishing I had words of wisdom to share. I don't drink or smoke, so don't know why I feel like I'm losing brain cells...I did read that a lack of water could do that...think I'll get me a water IV!! ;-)

Re: 2/29 - 3/2 Hershey's new scale

Good luck with your revised scale Libby. You guys are doing really well. We wish ya all the best!

Re: 2/29 - 3/2 Hershey's new scale

Not sure this curve is going to tell us a lot. Seems off the norm...

AMPS (401)...lovely...

Morning Libby, ~O)

Please don't be sad. This was actually a great cycle. Hershey stayed in fantastic numbers most of the evening! It was only till +11 that he really bounced into your current AMPS. That is really good news because you may see that he isn't holding these high numbers throughout the course of the cycle but only at the very end. You would have only known that because you did a curve!

Are you able to get in another curve or a few mid cycle numbers? You may really have some good news on your hands here.

Yes Libby, that’s really decent minus the 400 at the end. Don’t be bummed. You got great info!

Edited the earlier notes so all of the numbers would be in one spot, but here are the other numbers from this cycle:

+2 (360)
+4 (182)
+6 (127)
+8 (335)
+11 (385) Actually +10.75

PMPS (389) Walked 7X; .9u

Of course, we feed at +6, so his numbers will now rise.

Wondering if those pretty greens came from (my feeling) insulin overlapped at the PMPS...should we do something about the +6 feedings - make it later? make it less? try cutting it out (and have Hershey eat US!!) to try to extend those milder numbers? Or, maybe the AMPS (401) was his body reacting to those pretty greens? But, his PS's have been pretty consistently high without seeing green, so not sure what I'm talking about. Stupid tired right now, so need y'all to help reason through this until (hopefully) I can regain my sense...not sure we'll get those other 2 numbers in...we'll see...

My apologies if this isn't coherent...

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

Hi Libby,

Last nights curve was perfect, those are the numbers that you are aiming for and want to see every day. Of course this morning's 401 is a bounce from the greens which he hasn't seen for a while but it's not that bad at all.

It seems to take him 3 cycles to clear a bounce, maybe less since it wasn't too high and he dropped into nice blue numbers instead of staying high and flat which usually happens after a nice cycle.

Hold steady for the next few cycles, unless he drops lowish then come on and ask about the dose or drop by .1u.

I like the nice trends, now get some rest.

Robin

+8 (335) - dreading that PMPS! Don't think I can make it for the +10 - waving the white flag

+11 (385) Actually +10.75

Robin - Do you mean hold the .9 dose or keep to the scale? Funny, the last couple of days he's been .9 in the morning and .6 at night - not sure if that means anything. Of course, he'll probably be so high by shot time that the scale will also say .9u. He did eat 2 hours ago, so that food is coming into play, too.

Thanks, everybody, for any feedback you can give. I-) Poor Doug - has to go to work in a few hours, but he's gotten up every time - what a guy! <3

I mean stick with the scale.

The green surf last night and blue nadir today is going to mess with the next few cycles but just know that he will settle into the increase very soon.

You and Doug are doing great.

I don't know how you keep your shooting schedule you do, I think someone called it "my personal hell"! I know it works for your schedules, but wow! Sure makes it a challenge for you guys!

His numbers look really great! So glad to see he's settling in!

   I KNOW that feeling!!!

Thanks, Everybody, for checking in on us and for the well wishes. It's frustrating, you know, you want them to feel better and the only way we have to measure that (besides behavior) is with their numbers. And, it just doesn't react the way you 'think' it would - If I do A, I'll get result B. No! I'll get result Q! But, we strive on - hoping something clicks just right. ;-)

Sorry, the mid-cycle numbers got added to his SS, but not to my note...all-nighter's are harder than I remember ;-)

I was tickled with those pretty greens - concerned, initially, when they came at PM +4, but glad they held steady as long as they did. I want him to be able to enjoy those mid-cycle numbers as long as he can and not mess him up by feeding him, you know?

Lu - Glad I'm not alone with a cat who'd eat me! People 'think' he's all mild-mannered, but that's only as long as you don't mess with the foodies schedule!

And, it wouldn't be my choice of shooting schedule if Doug worked normal hours. Of course, he's worked crazy hours most of our married life, so I don't know what I'd do if he was on a normal schedule. Maybe one day...

Thanks, again!!

This afternoon he got some freeze dried chicken... and practically the tip of my middle finger! I used to have everyone trained to take a treat from between my fingers... clearly he's forgotten how that works!
