1 unit. Jose scared me a little today but after giving him his lunch a couple hours early he rose back up. He seemed to start off dropping slowly so I waited to test at +4 instead of +3. He showed no hypo symptoms and then the reading was 37! I panicked a little out of frustration but remembered how high his PMPS jumped to the other day when I gave him kibble and corn syrup like they were going out of style. So I gave him his regular food and monitored. We'll see how his PMPS looks in a few hours.

Re: 3/2/14 Jose AMPS/177, +1/208, +2/148, +4/37, +5/71, +6/9

Great job testing today Rebecca! You are right - that 37 is too low again. You did right not feeding the kibble. It doesn't kick in fast enough and doesn't wear off fast enough. For a 37, you would probably want to break out at least medium carb, if not high carb gravy. That said it does look like Jose came back up pretty quickly. Let's see where he's at for PMPS, and I'm thinking you're going to want to go down again. Maybe to 0.5u. If you need to go back up in dose again from there it's easier to go up than down.

Re: 3/2/14 PMPS 199,197 trying .5u tonight

Since 1 unit earlier today brought Jose down too low I'm going to see how just .5u goes tonight. I know he did great last night on 1 u but his AMPS was too low for another 1 u. This was his AM cycle today.

AMPS 168, 15 min later 177
+1 208
+2 148

+4 37, LC food & 30 min later 45
+5 71
+6 97
+7 157

+9 217

+11 189

I would like to be able to give the same dose in the AM and the PM each day. We will see how .5 goes today. If his AMPS is higher I'll try .75 tomorrow.

Time to buy the U 100s, Rebecca. A .8 or .6 might have been perfect if the .5 is a little low on dose. It is possible that the next cycle will be a little higher as he could bounce. He is doing very well and you handled your first low number beautifully.

Jose is really staying nicely below renal threshold for the most part. You're doing a great job with him!

Thank you! Even though it looked like the .5 was just a little less than he needed last night his AMPS this morning is only 167, less than his 197 PMPS last night. I decided to do .5 again today. Here's to hoping Those safe greens come back today!!
