Yuck! Simon's AMPS are not too pretty this morning. Yesterday, I went to Petsmart to buy some different types of food because Simon has been pretty picky lately. I looked at Janet and Binky's chart and saw that Sophisticat Supreme beef and chicken had 3 carbs, so I bought it. I gave it to Simon yesterday for 2 meals and his bg has been going steadily up since then. Does anyone else use Sophisticat and have they noticed higher numbers? I did think there was more gravy than usual in a low carb food. Maybe I didn't read the chart right.

This morning, Simon is back to getting Wellness. He is not happy about it, either. We'll see if his bg's come down today and if not, his dose might need to be increased.

Now on to tbp.

Re: 3/19 Simon AMPS 287 Sophisticat food question

Maybe, in their infinitive wisdom, the manufacturer changed the formula. Grrr. I hope he comes down today.

Re: 3/19 Simon AMPS 287 Sophisticat food question

Maybe Simon is sensitive to some ingredient in that food. I know Wellness Chicken consistently makes Trix's BG increase, even though it's low carb. Hopefully you'll figure it out...but I think we all can relate to picky kitties.

Please come down for MamaBean, Simon!

Have a great day, Georgia!

Re: 3/19 Simon AMPS 287 Sophisticat food question

Hi Georgia, I used it some time ago and found Maggie did well on it until I noticed something changed on the label and her numbers started to rise. Calls to the number listed didn't give me the info I needed or I didn't get a return call. Anything with beef causes a rise in Mags. I wonder if Simon might have a reaction to the beef products or just the Sophisticat. Have you tried a plain Sophisticat turkey or chicken only? It's frustrating with the fuds wars. Grrr...Have a nice day and simon, please come down today.

Linda and Ann, you may be right and the manufacturer changed something in the formula. Simon has not had issues lately with beef causing a rise but I do notice a rise if he eats anything with liver. I'll try the regular chick from Sophisticat when i buy more food.

Amy, interesting that Wellness chicken causes Trixie's bg to rise. That is the one food that I know will help Simon's bg's stay lower. ECID :-D

Little lower now.

Bummer on the fuds. Of course it is always the way when you find something they like. Tarragon is a FF classic chicken guy and won't eat anything else without gravy so FF it is! Nice +6, but you can do better than that Simon! Have a great day Georgia!
