3/18 Ruben We have Poo

Yesterday's Condo

Broke down and gave Ruben 1/2 can of Salmon FF. I try to give it to him only 1x a week but had to pull out the big guns. He ate almost all of it. :smile:
Had pee in LB but thats all, That seemed normal, so thats good :smile: And now he is smelling his catnip sock, not playing but sniffing, I'll take it. Still think he's off but can't gauge by how much. With Ruben he's all or nothing usually so unsure right now. Still waiting it out. All the Vines and well wishes are so over appreciated I truly believe in the power of prayer and positive thoughts. Thank god it's St.Patty's day, People all over the world are saying his name today and smiling, that's good mojo. you guys can never know what (((FDMB))) and your support mean to me. I get nutty when Ruben is not well. Like basket weaving nut house crazy. :-D You guy's never make me feel judged or crazy. Thank you. If you all could meet him or see us together you would understand how special he is. He is a gift, like all of you. Keep sending vines.
Haven't given Pecid yet, not sure if I should or not? :-D

Sending tons and tons and tons of feel better vines to Ruben, and calming vines to the "crazy basket weaver". :lol: that made me laugh, too funny... But I do understand. I am a worrier too when it comes to my fur babies.

I don't have any advice about the Pepcid, but I have seen it recommended here many times. Good luck if you choose to give some Pepcid.

I'm glad Ruben ate some for you. It can't hurt to give him the Pepcid AC. I gave one of my cats 1/4 of a tablet of Pepcid AC every morning because he doesn't have a good stomach. If it was me, I would give him some tonight. Sending prayers for you both.

He's eating his normal Turkey and Giblet food- not much of it but I'll take it. Trying to take my own advise and focus on the good.
Still no Poo, but that means no diarrhea. Hoping that the diarrhea wasn't a sign of constipation...any Idea how to tell if he's constapated..palpating? a way he might strain?
So confused...all I know is I am so grateful for (((FDMB))) and all of you. Can't imagine dealing with all these feelings completely alone. If I ever win the lottery, I vow to give to here in obscene amounts, none of you will ever have to pay for FD needs again. Until then I give obscene amount of gratitude and love.

Hi, Sam, I hope Ruben feels better soon.
My vet taught me how to feel Ripley's body for constipation. Other than that, look for straining while using the LB. When R's been constipated, her BGs tend to rise and she becomes even more lethargic, less appy; generally looks "off."

This probably doesn't help much ~ a kitty can look "off" for any reason :roll: .

I also give R Pepcid, 1/2 an hour before b'fast & dinner (crushed, put into a little piece of pea/duck pill pocket); her CKD tends to give her an acid tummy, but the Pepcid helps.

There's a diagram here that might help ~ if you feel below the spine but above the abdomen, you might be able to feel if he's backed up. It's tricky, though, to feel for unless you know how that area feels when he isn't backed up. I had to use my civvie as a comparison.

That site linked above is a great site on cat constipation ~ lots of info.

Hopefully Ruben isn't constipated, though. I hope he poos for you tonight.

(((Josie))) Thank you, A little confusing but I'll grab both my kitties tummy, if all else it will be nice to touch their lil bellies.

I just came home from work at lunch to quickly check LB. So there was poo, but I have 2 kitties and not sure who's poo it was. Now I did not see diarrhea, so taking that as good, but now concerned about constipation. There where a couple pee puddles in there, so that's good as well, but did notice a smaller almost dribble size pee puddle, not sure if that was just a lil extra at the end or if it was my smaller female kitties pee or if it is nothing at all.
Not being here stinks. I have tomorrow morning off so hopefully I'll get to see poo tonight or tomorrow. If not I guess I may have to go to vet.
Ruben's spirit seems slightly better, no way back to normal, but he did eat this A.M. and took treats. But I'm home now and he's laying down, usually he's following me all around.
I'm emotionally in a better place than yesterday, Thank you (((FDMB Family)))
I can't promise that I won't become a disaster agian, but I'm enjoying not being one now.

Thank you guys for never judgeing me or making me feel as crazy as I know I am.

Hi Samantha. My goodness, when you say "With Ruben he's all or nothing" you aren't kidding. Yesterday diarrhea and today nothing. I hope you find the right combination ofmeds to get him back to normal.

Oh happy day!!! We have poo!!! He waited til I got home to go too, thats how awsome Ruben is. It was a lil firmer than it should be, dark in color and wasn't one cylinder, hard little nuggets. Flavor was a lil off too.... :lol: :lol: :lol: jkjk too funny. so I'm gonna start adding a lil bit pumpkin again (only a little).
I truly believe that all of the vines are what make a difference, I believe in the power of prayer and the power of the mind. Every good thought someone thinks about Ruben manifests a better chance of a good out come.
He ate today and seemed a lil more social than the last few days.
On the raod to wellness, Lets pray it continues for him and all the other sugar kitties
I love my (((FDMB))) Family so so so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can only hope and wish that I can provide the same feeling you all give me when you all need it.

Hey Sam--just a thought: I needed to find out who had diarrhea in my 3-cat household so I set up my trail camera in the basement--works like a charm (and super funny when you view the pictures)! I actually have pics of 2 of the kits in the LB today, posted on Gobbles' 3/22 post....it is super-hilarious. Of course, I got their permission before plastering them on the 'net....
