Did a double check in each ear since he was 200 at previous +4 (pmps). I hate it when this happens.. variables are a pain.

i hear you on the variables...blecchh!

i'd go with the lower number

Re: 3/17 Mike's Buddy PMPS#296

I am batting zero tonight. Dropped the container with the insulin in it, I hope the wrapping around the vile inside the prescription container worked like a shock absorber. I looked at it and saw foamy bubbles going to the top and let it set for a minute and it cleared up. I dropped both cans of opened Fancy Feast, almost stabbed myself with the fork trying to get them open.

I am wondering though if we should start a new vile? It seems to be clear but until I get my jewelers magnifier out I swear I see little micro bubbles attached to the glass but not floating around.

But, from that we gave 1.50u. I smelled insulin on his fur, maybe residue; some did drip down the needled as I adjusted the amount.

Other from that a another one done. @-)

dontcha hate having evenings like that?! at least the vial didn't break on you.

tomorrow is a new day! hope it goes a little better!

Re: 3/17 Mike's Buddy PMPS#296

FWIW...my pens always have bubbles in them, but never "floaties" (i.e. small particles in suspension)...and i've never seen the bubbles
decrease its efficacy.
just mentioning it due to the high cost of insulin.

Re: 3/17 Mike's Buddy AMPS#217

A pleasant surprise of 217 for a change. Yellows are better than the pinks and reds of course!

Still trying to determine best course of action for Buddy and his sores.

We have a long work time ahead of us. To make up for what we missed we are working 9 days straight. This is going to make things a little difficult on scheduling for Buddy (if we decided to do it) and balance shot times. But we need the money really bad and decided to take the overtime. It's not much but every little bit helps.

Re: 3/17 Mike's Buddy AMPS#217

Hope all is well, Mike! Sorry about the dropped insulin... I've been there! I think you should keep using it, but if you start noticing wonky numbers, I'd replace. Sorry about the long streak of work, but understand the need for overtime! Hope you're able to get buddy to the vet soon! I was looking at google... if VCA doesn't call you back timely, it looks like there are a couple other vets who state on their websites that they have an interest in dermatology... maybe you could try one of those?

Good luck! Hope you're able to get some rest over the next 9 days!

OK, looks like another under the 300 radar. But still needs to be better! :? Shooted 1.50u... Buddy, whats up with the ups!?

I just got some new ReliOn syringes, 3/10mlcc, 29g 12.7mm. :-D :-D BTW: anyone got a good comparison picture? I wanted to make sure. I am very visual confirmation type guy.

These have the half increments in them, and I am embarrassed to say I did not use them right away. When I loaded one up with 1.50u I went whoaaa! That looks like a lot of insulin to me. So I used one of the remaining few I had left with the full increments. confused_cat

I feel so silly and over cautious on that. ohmygod_smile

How are the sores Mike? Have they improved?

Not really, once the old ones get better they ether come back or more show up. I hope to get him in next week, we will do blood work ups first then decide on the rest. I am still not liking the idea of putting him under.

Hi, they got back with us. We are just struggling with this putting him under during certain procedures.
