Here we are again.:banghead: This is 100% bounce I guess because he had no more food after the HC at PMPS +4. He had already had his LC at PMPS, then he got MC @+3.5, then the HC @+4. I did not give a temptation as I had threatened to do (if he needed to eat again) nor syrup or honey… just the Weruva Grandma’s chicken soup at +4. He wasn’t hungry after all of that and he did start coming up so I left him alone and just monitored. So here we are again. So far he seems fine though, no tummy issues as of now. He was really hungry this morning so he ate well. I’m going back to sleep. Previous https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...-167-3-5-96-4-76-4-75-98.260779/#post-2926732

Big dive at +5! What is going on?!? Not that I’m complaining, it’s a nice surprise! He ate LC at AMPS and again at +3. I can't figure this boy of mine out. What do you think @Suzanne & Darcy @FrostD @Wendy&Neko ....any thoughts on that? Did he just clear the bounce that fast? I just fed LC again at +5. Also wanted to mention that Max had a normal poop this morning so I was happy about that. The Weruva HC and the Proplan MC must be a couple of ones he can tolerate. Also I didn't give honey or karo, so maybe that's got something to do with when he gets diarrhea. Melissa and Suzanne, I really appreciated it last night when you chimed in to help with your opinions. I know it's always a possibility of upset tummy with Max with ANYTHING, so I accept that and welcome ANY suggestions in managing his BG dropping quickly or too low. If he has diarrhea or vomiting, then it's just Max doing what he does and I've learned to manage it. So thank you, I'm glad I was lucky enough to catch you online. If nothing else, I just need someone to hold my hand sometimes.:bighug::bighug:

179 is good. I’d still just feed some LC and check in two hours from when you got the 179 reading. He certainly cleared the bounce in record time and hopefully will flatten out. Paws crossed. I’m sitting here in the hair salon now.

Yes I am really happy about that 179. I just don’t know what causes him to dive like that but I guess it’s like you said he cleared the bounce in record time. That’s what I was planning on doing, what you mentioned above… so we will just go with that and see what happens. Definitely not complaining! Have a nice salon visit.

Not all high numbers are the result of a bounce. There could be part of that in today's AMPS, but possibly loss of duration and other causes. Having his extra food listed in the spreadsheet remarks is helpful in determining that. Though, truth to be told, there isn't really a lot to be gained by figuring out why a cat has high number at a particular time. One of the reasons I suggested some loss of duration, is that the bounce either wasn't or didn't amount to much and he got right back to business again. That can be typical of loss of duration.

Great news if you've found a combo that keeps his GI system happy! I do remember one other cat here who had a corn allergy, and reacted badly every time he had karo. Might be worth keeping the syrup in reserve for a while and seeing if that is it.

That makes sense to me. After all, the whole purpose of giving MC and HC last night instead of LC was to stop the diving and boost him up some since it was during the night when I couldn’t monitor. If it had been during the day when I could monitor, I’d have just tried LC only like I’ve done before to let him surf in the green for as long as possible. But that’s why monitoring is important, so we can make sure that he surfs and not continues to dive. I’m getting it. I think the high number concerns for me are more about wondering if I’m doing the right things for him rather than just seeing a high number and wondering why it’s high if that makes any sense. I just need a little more confidence and a lot more patience. I’m taking it all in and I will get there one day. Maybe I can help someone else some day like you’re helping me. Thanks Wendy. :)

Max looks like he’s happy with yellow right now. Don’t know what it means for him but I’m taking advantage of it and going to sleep tonight. I may get up at some point and check him. He’s had such a good, happy day.:cat:
