Congratulations! :)

He looks so dapper!! Will he actually keep that bow on?
Thank you!!We owe so much to you, Bhooma! Thank you for always being there with and for us! :bighug:

He was pretty good about his little photo shoot - he usually sticks his nose in my camera lens, but he let me this time. But no, if I set him free with the bow tie on he’d paw at it until it was off.

Gus was my first guy watching go through an OTJ trial as I’m still quite new to the board, but I am SO excited for you guys!! :) so motivating!
This makes me so happy! Thanks for tagging along! I have high hopes for you and Clyde! You’re in the right place with the best ppl to guide you

It took us about 8 months to get here! Wasn’t sure it was even possible at one point! You’re already head of me with the TR protocol, I swear that was what kicked his pancreas into gear again! Don’t give up and hang on, it can be a bumpy ride ;)

Well we had the same idea I was gonna post Barry manilow this morning!

....Looks like we made it

Happy :otj: Gus and mama bean! Please dont leave us though! <3
It was a toss up.. but I decided to add ‘after all’ it’s been almost 8months since diagnosis, thought it was appropriate :)

Thanks for rooting for us and being in our corner! :bighug: I looked forward to your messages everyday and your support means so much to us!

I’m not leaving! You can’t get rid of me! I know too much to let it go to waste. I’ll be checking in on you and LM and be right here to show you support as you have with us! :bighug:

In case you haven't seen this

  • After 14 days of no insulin, we have a party!!
Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens; we just give her the support needed. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

Once she is through the trial successfully, you enter a new phase. Your cat is still diabetic but has now become diet-controlled. Continue feeding low carb food in the manner successful for your kitty. If you decide to change her feeding schedule, let your meter be your guide to the best times to feed. Avoid medications with sugar in them and steroid medications unless they are medically essential. Continue testing blood glucose weekly for the first month and then monthly forever. It's a good idea to weigh her monthly. Weight should remain stable. If she seems "off" or sick, or is showing signs of diabetes (excessive drinking, eating, urinating, weight loss), test her blood glucose right away. Keep the teeth and gums clean and healthy; dental issues can bring a cat out of remission. If you see rising blood glucose numbers, it's time for a visit to the vet!

Yes I have this copied into my notes :) thanks though!

Wow what a nice way to end the trial! Gee whizz Gus what a show off:p

Congratulations again I'm so happy for you. Now you dont even have to test for a whole week. What are you going to do with all that freetime:D:bighug::bighug:

Thanks Rain :bighug: I don’t even know what I’m going to do.. like… I have to relearn how to leave the hous for more than an hour.. if the pandemic wasn’t enough, Gus has kept me home almost every day for the last 8 months.. I don’t mind that part but now it’s like oh, I can go out for multiple hours consecutively now? Especially since my roommate can still feed Gus while I’m away.. I’m going to have to ease my way back into society :) I’m in for a shock!
