Good Morning Lantus Land! ~O) ~O) ~O)

Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=39123

Looks like we lost regulation on this end with Atlas. Darn DST, low numbers, etc. We did crack our last pen of Lantus this morning, so I'll try and get information to the vet on Saturday for faxing in a prescription to one of the two Canadian pharmacies that ship to America. We were down to probably a week or so left on it, but it really is a last ditch effort at a correction to some suddenly wonky numbers. Lots of variables going on, but after last nights two readings I am reminded of a few things about weakened insulin and my old Relion meter. The new strips for the Freestyle should be delivered today. I poked myself 3 times last night just trying to get a BG reading for myself to check the meter! Too little blood and no reading or false lows...too much blood false high due to overfill of the test strip reservoir. Ugh! Consistency...I need consistency.

Attie is acting normal though. He is hungrier than usual, so I know we are running pink numbers. I am not doubting the pinks. The 382 really sucks this morning though! Wow! He isn't sneezing as much. Still playful and leaving presents in the litter box. When he isn't regulated he tends to pee anywhere. So, I'm being wary with him.

Busy morning today. I have a doggie client I need to take to her vettie between 7am-7:30am (spay drop-off) and then I am hoping to stop at another clients to take care of an older dog (severe arthritis) and a cat with asthma. Hopefully I will be back home by 9am to test Attie.

Gary is still sneezing up a storm, he and MudCat are long distance chattering this morning. She is talking about her play mouse in the family room and Gary sounds like he is answering her. Probably not, but he does talk to himself quite a bit. Now Attie just got up to go check out the play mouse too. Although with the warm weather, there is a mouse in the outer wall that has kept Attie and MudCat busy listening too. I'll need to drop some bait in the crawl space.

Just headed into the busy spring break time ...I still have room in the schedule for 2 more reservations though!

Re: 3/18 Atlas AMPS 382

It sounds like your day is busy.
Come on down real nice, Attie.

I don't have those problems with my One Touch. It's either a good test, or not enough blood and an error. I rarely get an error.

Hope you have a great day, and Attie suprises you with a nice PMPS to start the weekend.

Re: 3/18 Atlas AMPS 382

Sorry about the pink, but Tray is there to keep Atlas company. Hopefully they will both find there way down today.

Hope your busy day goes well

Good morning guys, Choco and I just wanted to stop by and say hi. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Hey, newb question time!
How come you need a scrip for Lantus and why ship from Canada?

Well everything went very smoothly this morning and I am back round home early!!! Yeah...maybe I can put on another pot of coffee and make some breakfast too!

Sarah, I see you are from Canada. In the United States you need a prescription for insulin of any type! Go figure. If ordering from Canada they need the prescription to legally send it stateside. Lantus insulin stateside will run between $250-$300.

There are two Canadian pharmacies where the pricing is between $130-$160 :o Even with express shipping costs it is much less expensive than buying it here in the states. And local pharmacies refuse to 'compete' with online sources. I always laugh when they say they'll match any price. They only mean local pricing. Sometimes I do wonder if that is against the law and the practice is really price fixing.

Good morning guys .. wow, you have had quite the morning and I am still trying to get the energy just to get into the shower! I'm glad to see atlas is coming down nice and slow and that the sneezing has slowed down ... I think it is funny how much gary talks to himself ... hope you guys have a great weekend!

Re: 3/18 Atlas AMPS 382, +3 318

Hi, guys...
i ordered this week from 77 Canada Pharmacy, and they shipped...no prescription required.
they have 2 differently priced solostar 5 packs...i ordered the higher priced one at $149.00, someone mentioned on the forum
that the price difference was due to where the pens were manufactured.

they said it can take 3 to 6 business days, but so far it's been 2 since it shipped.

Really? Uh? Suspect they made a mistake? Did you call and talk to someone or do it online?

Plus it looks like Attie doesn't want to come down...or he dropped while I was out... doing afternoon rounds. Stinker, pinker....kibbie will do it every time. The bowl was empty.... I saw him making those engineering calculations the other night. ohmygod_smile

Re: 3/18 Atlas AMPS 382, +3 318, +7 282 (raid!)

they do have a radar instinct for contraband food, don't they?!

i was wondering about the sneezing. i've heard it mentioned in a few posts and wonder if it's related to the Lantus. Punkin's been very occasionally sneezing - i think since he went on it. i hear him once a day or so, but he doesn't seem to be sick.

do you know if they are connected?

Re: 3/18 Atlas AMPS 382, +3 318, +7 282 (raid!)

 Contrabandanista!!

i ordered online, and asked some questions thru online chat, including one about scanning & emailing my script (they have that or a fax #)
That was the one question they didn't answer.
i was sure that since 1/10/11, all canadian pharmacies had to have a script to ship to the U.S.

makes me wonder how up on things they are...but someone on the forum recommended them saying they had a good experience,
so i guess we'll see :-D

In Atlas's case not likely. I have a foster kitty with an URI in quarantine. I am wondering if I maybe cross contaminated... Attie had his vaccine, so this should be short-lived for him.

Re: 3/18 Atlas AMPS 382, +3 318, +7 282 (raid!)

aw . . . i just looked at your link "from a humble beginning in the shelter system." you found him a good home! ;-) he looks like such a sweetie - reminds me of my punkin. he'd been in the shelter cage for 3 months when i got him too - but no health problems and i couldn't understand why he'd been there so long. but i found him a good home too. :-D

great story on Atlas!

Re: 3/18 Atlas AMPS 382, +3 318, +7 282 (raid!), PMPS 300

It looks to me like Attie's numbers were better on more insulin and when you were keeping the dose more consistent.

Re: 3/18 Atlas AMPS 382, +3 318, +7 282 (raid!), PMPS 300

Well, this is better than where we started this morning...and there was a raid on top of those numbers....

maybe is looking like the insulin just pooped out... confused_cat confused_cat confused_cat .

Celi thanks for the info on the Canadian Pharmacy ...

I'm gonna try and get a script written anyway...hopefully Attie's vet won't want an office visit. I don't think she will as she is very unfamiliar with Lantus. I think he's her only patient on Lantus...but I do want to get him set up with Gary's awesome vet clinic. I am just pinching pennies right now between Gary's needs and Attie.

I will end up spending my last pennies in life on cat fuds!

Well Sienne if you look back through the condo's it was my messing up DST that started this adventure.

First we were on time setting up ...but he dropped to 40 with even going 15 minutes early! So I backed off to 1.75 for the time change. But then that Monday got up an hour late anyway... I done made a mess of things.

I think we are going to finally get straightened out this weekend. Plus he's been working on his engineering degree over the MudCat's bowl... :? She finally started to seem to be putting on much needed weight and now I'll be going back to timed feedings for her too. She really lost out in that situation.

He does stay out of her fuds though if he is regulated below 280-300.

oh, wow. (sorry for late reply)

I picked mine up from Shopper's Drug Mart for $75. Think it would be considered drug running if I started sending you guys insulin??

I'm sure there is some import/export regulation that kicks in...otherwise we'd all be tapping our Canadian members for some juice!!!

no kidding on this - i wish!

Sorry for all the pink today for Attie - bummer. I hope he come down for you, soon. Seems like so many had DST issues in one form or another - I hope you can get back on track this weekend. Good luck!

Attie - dude! that Gary is one party animal - WOOT. He needs to come to more of our parties... :-D what a singer! Is he like that at home? dude - when do you sleep? ~~ Mannie
