Zener is doing fine this morning, after his dental yesterday. There were no extractions but a couple of deep pockets that the vet filled with antibiotic gel. We didn't catch the name of the AB. His appy is good although I'm a little nervous about over feeding but he just sweet talked me into one of his bigger breakfasts. :roll: He had a picnic and a very short yard patrol. There was a small poo in the LB, soft but formed. We will be watching for more poo today. Paws crossed on that one. Overall, he's doing very, very well. :-D :-D :-D Now to get those BGs down and we still have to give him 8 more clindamyacin injections. nailbite_smile

Morning and so happy to hear the good post-dental report on Zener. And the hearty breffifs, too! :-D

I'm glad Zener is doing so well this morning and has a good appy. I hope the AB doesn't keep his BG higher than normal.

Grams - have to share a funny with your grandogter. BlueBoy OFFICIALLY moved 'home' yesterday - he's staying outside in the big playing fenced area. Schniggles goes potty in the next fenced area. She saw Blue in the fence and goes RUNNING up to the fence with her hair up, all growls and teeth and round as a little ball - she's gotta scare that big thing away! Dat's HER yard! I had to run after her and correct her quickly. Blue just stood there wagging his tail and grinning....this morning she went to the complete opposite part of the yard to take care of business....silly silly pug!

Great news on Zener! I am so pleased to hear happy appy! Who could resist giving seconds to such a cutie if he is asking for them. :lol:

Interesting on the deep pockets. I wonder if there is anything that should be done long term to prevent that. Reminds me that my gums aren't the greatest and I should be booking my own dental. :oops:

Lovely that things are going so well after your dental. I'm glad Appy is happy (I thought Appy was your dog, until you gave me a definition). How about some nice blues Zener?

Thank you all for stopping in to check on Zener day one post-dental. All is all, he is doing very well - some weepy eyes from the artificial tears they applied during the procedure (I didn't know that a cat's eyes stayed open under anesthesia!) and some occasional restlessness and meatloaf sitting. We gave him 0.1mL of Bupe mid-morning when he looked a bit uncomfortable, but that's been it so far. Appy has been amazingly happy! He made several thorough patrols of his back yard and napped in the sun in some of his favorite backyard spots. We are now just waiting on the return of poo post-procedure. nailbite_smile

Update on the gum pockets (it was all in our dental discharge instructions, but I forgot) - he has a receding gumline in places and there were two teeth with pocketing associated with the receding gumline. The gel they used is called Doxirobe - an antibiotic gel used in the control and treatment of peridontal disease. All the teeth roots were healthy on x-ray so no extractions, just the gum pocketing. That may explain why his appy was picking up after a day of clindamyacin injections before the dental. So, his dental was about like mine - cleaning out pocketing from gum recession and a nice polishing. :roll: We are still continuing the AB injections for another 3 days, and no dental homecare for at least 10 days to give the gel time to work! Woo hoo - a reprieve from the toothbrushing drama from a little while.

Glad that all went well with Mr Z's dental. He definitely has better dental health than most of us human! :lol:
