Hi Jason,

If you need a cat food that will carry you until you find a good one, what I'm using with my picky eater until I can find a better one Simba will eat from Janet and Binky's list is Royal Canin Recovery formula. It's 37% protein & 6% carbs. It's not ideal, but it's what's working in the interm. My vet said this wasn't a great one to keep Simba on long-term, but I can't remember why. Maybe someone else will know?

Anyway, It's super yummy (from what I understand - I'm not about to taste it) and is working for a cat who never even looked twice at wet food before.

Have you tried parmasan cheese or tuna water on his food to whet his appetite?

Best of luck,
Sarah.

I may have some of that recovery formula in the house. I've tried most of the low carb foods from Janet and Binky's site, so now I may move to the few I haven't or go up to 10% carbs. I have tried dried chicken/salmon and flavor enhancer, and they do work, but not well enough. Petco has a good selection, so I'll go tomorrow and buy a few cans of each variety. She does love her Soulistic Chicken, but it's fairly high in carbs and does bump her BG's.

Thanks for the input!

Jason

OH! The other thing that's working for Simba is effacaps - omega 3. Puncturing a capsule with a lancet and squirting some over food is fishy goodness.
The recovery also blends well with water so it's very syringe-squirtable if need be.

That's why I have some recovery formula. When one of my cats had a feeding tube, we used it. I've also used it to syringe feed her. Fortunately, Gracie will eat, she's just holding out for her favorites!

Nice numbers for GarcieD. This is the waif that found you and now she wants a printed menu. Go figure. Cats, can't live without them.
